Intolerance For Tolerance

657277-travel_picture-racial_tolerance.jpg

I keep seeing this word tolerance pop up when I am looking at instances of racism. I have even found a website called Tolerance.org whose sole purpose is to fight hate by promoting tolerance. WTF is up with this whole tolerance thing, I understand that we would like to rid this country of racism, but is tolerance the only option. Tolerance is a term being used in a social and cultural context within America or white America’s dealing with the black community. The term tolerance is widely viewed as some sort of anti-discrimination doctrine that is often touted by those in power. But, we can look at it from another angle. To me the word tolerance implies that something is wrong with blacks and therefore whites will just have to tolerate it. When in actuality I believe that it is the blacks who have had to do all the tolerating and I don’t understand why we continue to tolerate such abhorrent behaviors from America as a whole.

Bernard Lewis shows the definition of tolerance as “I am in charge. I will allow you some though not all of the rights and privileges that I enjoy, provided that you behave yourself according to rules that I will lay down and enforce.” This is a pertinent statement as it exactly represents how blacks in America are being held down by the white ruling class. I know that people want to jump immediately to the statement I just made and call it a defeatist or victim attitude, but if you look at the disparity in the life experience that we vs. whites have in this country; there is a phenomenal gap. Therefore I call my view one of honest realism. Look at our lives you see that we have a higher instance of shoddy healthcare, justice, wages (if we get a job), living standards, wealth building, education, and in purchasing power such as, obtaining credit, homes, cars or goods and services. Those wonderful things that most Caucasians can take for granted.

This last paragraph brings me back to the issue of why we as a black community tolerate this type of habituation, allowing ourselves to settle for this inferior treatment that we so often receive. We have been so conditioned over the years to not only accept this treatment but to expect it and worse yet to dish it out to our own. Criticizing ourselves at every opportunity and for what, to show the ruling class just how assimilated we are; “see boss I’m just like you.” Yet, we will in fact tolerate that crazy behavior and even praise it when it happens. Take your Bill Cosby, Shelby Steele and John McWhorter types, constantly barraging the black community with take responsibility, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and if so and so can do it so can you. These statements are a ridiculous bi-product of people who willingly refuse to look at the big picture. If I have ten kids and I only let a couple into the kitchen, is it then fair to tell the others that they need to take responsibility for the fact that they are so skinny. According to these fellows it is and the kids should be doing more to try and get into the kitchen.

Unfortunately, I believe that you can’t create a system where YOU are subjugating people and enthusiastically denying them equal pieces of the big life pie, then turn around and blame them for the fact that they don’t have a larger piece. All the while rewarding and praising those subjugated fools who decide to help spread the message of confusion, creating a class of people who are full of self hate, doubt and bewilderment. Hard work can only take you so far, then it comes down to whether you fit into white societies definition of an acceptable black, which is one that is a white clone willing to subjugate themselves to white society all neatly packaged in black skin.

Are Police Getting Away With Modern Day Lynchings?

police.jpg

Danny Brumfield, 45, was shot in front of the New Orleans convention center after walking in front of a police car, carrying a pair of shears. The police say it was a case of self defense, the District attorney Eddie Jordan agreed, then closed any investigations and charges will not be filed. Now the autopsy report is in and the evidence now shows that Brumfield was shot in the back by a single shotgun blast. Unfortunately Jordan now claims that even with the new autopsy report “I don’t believe that autopsy alone is sufficient to create a situation where we would be able to carry our burden of proof.” As far as being shot in the back Jordan says that “how Mr. Brumfield was shot in the back.” Jordan is suggesting that conceivably he was turning or falling off the patrol car at the time.

The police officers maintain that Brumfield was making stabbing motions, with the shears, when he ended up on the hood of the car, no one was sure whether he was hit by the car or jumped on the hood. His daughter who was sleeping outside the convention center witnessing some of the action agreed with the police that he was on the hood hanging on and then she heard the shot. His family explains that he had the shears because he was cutting cardboard for his grandchildren to sleep on so they wouldn’t have to sleep on cold concrete. The officer Ronald Mitchell who fired the fatal shot was terminated police spokeswoman Sabrina Richardson said; claiming it was due to “a domestic violence issue with his wife”.

This is yet another case from New Orleans of police being out of control. How does a person get shot square in the back and have it deemed justifiable by authorities. I understand that he may “have” been threatening the police officers, but he had shears and his back was obviously at the officers, so it seems that it would be prudent to handle the situation differently. Such as, firing a non-fatal shot or maybe just not using the shotgun. The police in New Orleans were involved in many other shootings involving blacks that are being either prosecuted or investigated at this time. Such as Ronald Madison an unarmed, mentally retarded man with no criminal record, who was killed by a shotgun blast to his back, the police officer told the investigators that Madison had turned and reached into his waistband right before the officer opened fire. The officer who was charged with first degree murder has resigned from the force. Six other policemen also were charged for the shootout on Danziger Bridge. Three others were indicted in the killing of a second person on the bridge. All of the officers have pleaded innocent, and are awaiting trial.

This to me is a wakeup call that people need to see that it is obviously OK to shoot, maim, kill, beat down, and any other violent thing that cops would like to do to blacks. But, yet people are saying that “racism is pretty much dead” or “look how far blacks have come”. These statements are just ridiculous. What I say is look at the facts, so many blacks are being shot numerous times apparently justifiably due to the “contagious shooting theory”. It is interesting that cops never seem to get “contagious shooting” when shooting at white people. Also, the frequent beatings blacks get, but judges and people say that the person shouldn’t be struggling and they wouldn’t be beaten. Well I don’t know about you, but if someone is beating me, I’m going to struggle. Unfortunately, I guess white people never struggle when being arrested, so there is no need to beat them, just blacks.

All this is showing me that blacks are under attack and it seems that it’s just as justifiable as it was when lynching a black was taking place (more often). Also things in America are more the same than ever. What else we should see, is that we blacks need to be kept in line by any means necessary.

The High Cost Of Free Drugs

metapills.jpg

As Pfizer’s profits grow, this giant drug pusher, sorry, company is being sued by the Nigerian government for fraud related to the testing of a new drug on innocent children without parental consent. After a 1996 meningitis outbreak, Pfizer treated one hundred meningitis children with an experimental antibiotic called Trovan. Then another one hundred children, who were “control patients” in the study, did received the approved antibiotic called ceftriaxone, but the problem was that the dose was far lower than recommended. As a result eleven children died which included five who were on Trovan and six from the control group, plus many others endured physical disabilities and brain damage. Pfizer claims that its records show that not one of the deaths was actually linked to the Trovan or shoddy treatment, pointing out that the study actually showed improved survival for the children getting Trovan as opposed to the customary drug; noting that meningitis survivors can sometimes sustain brain damage and or other types of complications from the disease.

If this were to happen here in America we would be outraged literally fuming while storming the company gates with torches and pitchforks. But, we aren’t because the tragedy occurred in Nigeria, that’s Africa right? Well then, who cares, they are just lucky enough to get a dose of whatever drug Pfizer wants to push at them. America shows such a lack of care when it comes to American companies doing deviously Machiavellian deeds as long as they do them in a country where the inhabitants are generally minorities (according to the white populace here). Then when a group of angry individuals decides to exact a little payback, we are incensed and start with the whys and what for’s; it must be our freedom, you’ll here all over the news. When maybe we should start looking at our foreign policy and what our companies are doing in foreign lands.

Actually it has happened here on American soil, between 1932 and 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service carried out an experiment on 399 black men in the late stages of syphilis. All these men were told was that they had “bad blood,” when their doctors had no intentions of curing or letting them know what they really had. I’ve always wondered if they were infected intentionally, hey, if they would submit them to these experiments then who knows what they were capable of. Obviously no one has learned any lessons from this case at all. It seems that Blacks be they African or American makes great human lab rats. This conspiracy went right to the top, one of the doctors from the experiment said that, “If the colored population becomes aware that accepting free hospital care means a post-mortem, every darky will leave Macon County…” I can just here some of the big wigs at Pfizer smiling with the same line just enter in Nigeria. The United States Surgeon General at the time named LeRoy Edgar Burney contributed in luring the men to continue in the experiment even sending them certificates of appreciation after a painful 25 years in the study.

This makes me wonder why Blacks trust the medical field, government and any large corporation. It is completely obvious that these people don’t have our best interest in mind and can go so far as to be said they might harbor actual ill will towards our communities, whether they be in Africa or here at home.

Cavemen Evolve

As ABC gears up for its fall lineup it seems that they have a supposed comedy in the works based off the Geico cavemen commercials. The show is not surprisingly called “Cavemen”. This is how ABC explains the new show: “Cavemen is a unique buddy comedy that offers a clever twist on stereotypes and turns race relations on their head. Inspired by the popular Geico Insurance commercials, the series looks at life through the eyes of the ultimate outsiders — three modern cavemen — as they struggle to find their place in the world. Joel, his cynical best friend, Nick, and easy-going little brother, Jamie, are contemporary cavemen who live in the suburban south and simply want to be treated like ordinary thirty-something guys. Despite their attempts at assimilation, Nick doesn’t believe mainstream society will ever completely accept them, Jamie seems to take it all in stride and Joel straddles the middle, torn between his friends, his traditional values and his loving fiancée.”

As I watched the new trailers I was very unimpressed with the whole premise that the cavemen are trying to “assimilate”; into white culture no doubt. The problem is that this is the case with all nationalities, in order to make it in today’s world you need to assimilate as close to the white culture as possible. The cavemen are just another race of beings that need to be seen as “Caucasian”. I don’t think that they should be black either as I don’t think that blacks ever were cavemen. But, I would like to have seen the cavemen have a nationality all their own. Of, course since we live in a white dominated society anything that we have no experience with such as aliens, people from other dimensions or realms and of course cavemen will be modeled after white people. That is very disheartening for people of other races such as myself being a black person I have to say that I am pretty tired of the blatant racism.

I do not like having my children seeing that the majority of aliens on Star Trek, or everyone in the Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, X-Men and Star Wars are pretty much lacking when it comes to a black presence. If you take a look at the majority of shows in general you can’t help but notice how short on minorities they are. What are my children supposed to think of themselves, self esteem and their race as a whole when faced with such blatant messages such as “you and people like you don’t matter that is why you are barely represented in the majority of your favorite movies, television shows and cartoons”, and when blacks are in these movies they are assimilated.

I guess my real point here is that the cavemen show is just more propaganda that everyone needs to be white to matter (isn’t that why they are trying to assimilate). I just wish the cavemen had their own culture or at least show us what they are assimilating from.

MTV Cribs

mtv-cribs.jpg

What exactly is the purpose of MTV Cribs? I recently watched an episode featuring some supposed rap star named Slim Thug, two bimbos’ name AJ and Aly and hockey star Sean Avery. The show takes us on a walk through of these stars over flashy, money wasting homes and garages full of cars decked out with more bling than you can shake a fist at.

The first house we see belongs to Slim Thug who takes us around this overpriced home purchased so far from this so called “HOOD” I’m sure he’s constantly rapping about it isn’t even funny. He shows off his Jacuzzi and talks about the “girlies” he’s going to put into it then turns around to point out his little boy’s electric hummer sitting next to it. What is it that he is portraying to the black children he’s trying to push his music to, as soon as you get a little dough run don’t walk as fast as you can away from your roots, community and people. He shows us his “Bling, Bling” which is a bunch of gold and diamonds, but he points out two necklaces and says that if he put them on and shut off all the lights in the country the “Boss” (meaning himself) is going to shine. He is doing this all the while walking around with no clothes just a house robe with a cigar and a bunch of jewelry. He walks outside and shows off the rides in the driveway, a Rolls Royce, ’75 El Dorado Cadillac, another Cadillac called Boss Hog and a tricked out chopper style motor bike. Looking out his balcony his neighborhood features a small lake and all the amenities one could lust for.

I suppose this show is designed to make the Bling hungry materialistic crowd drool with envy and dreams of their own posh palaces. This is just another chance for this crazy money machine to push its retarded values onto a new generation of youth. With kids being so susceptible to the messages of these shows, this just seems like a huge boost for the credit cards, debt consolidations, loan institutions, debt collectors and of course courts with its gangs of bankruptcy lawyers.

I am not surprised by the amount of over the top spending that they showed. What I am surprised by is that more people don’t see this for what it is and put a stop to their children watching and becoming influenced by this crap. Unfortunately, most parents if both live at home are working so the kids are left to their own devices and since this show conveniently airs at 4pm, right after school’s out parents aren’t around to do anything. You also have parents that believe that watching things such as this isn’t much of an issue since they are money-oriented Jones chasers themselves. But, I will be damned if I let any of my children fall prey to the MTV Crib mentality.

Excessive Police Abuse Again

police-brutality.gif

Another excessive abuse case caught my eye this week. We the people are becoming extremely complacent with these types of cases. After all we see this behavior constantly on shows such as COPS, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and any others you can think of. People constantly ask “well what did they do to make the cops behave that way?” When we ask these types of questions we become part of the problem. So the question really is “what is wrong with the cop to make him act that way?” After all police officers receive plenty of training in keeping calm and cool in very stressful and demanding circumstances.

The abuse was geared towards an older black woman (surprise!) named Shundrea May in St. Louis because of three warrants, the worst being for nothing more than an unpaid ticket; for an uncovered garbage can. There were three officers on the scene, two talking to Ms. May who asked to put on a shirt since she answered the door in pants and a robe. The officers agreed so when she turned to get the shirt a third officer rushed up from behind the first two and grabbed her by the arm and started twisting until she ended up at the emergency room with a severe sprain. All for an uncovered trash can, which if you look down her block pretty much all the cans were uncovered. The cops admit they probably won’t be arrested for their cans, gee I wonder why?
The officer a Mr. Garyani a three year veteran already had another complaint of excessive force just a week before this incident. Officer Garyani said “The inference that I used excessive force is incorrect. Other officers didn’t react the way they should have. When she attempted to leave the area, I restrained her. The other officers failed to act in a professional capacity.” He has been placed on suspension which could be made permanent soon.
Listening to this man and you would think that the poor lady was a serial killer; maybe she was a serial garbage lid leave’er off’er and deserved what she got. This is just another drop in the bucket of cops and other authority figures using unwarranted roughness when dealing with blacks. I hear over and over that people are tired of hearing about blacks being abused by cops, but until we stop getting abused by cops; I hope that we all continue talking about it.

Sicko Bashing

universal-healthcare.gif

What is it that makes people so resistant to socialized health care? It couldn’t be that privatized is so much better. Maybe it’s the money that privatized health care is lining so many big wigs coffers. Michael Moore has a new film called “Sicko” which is all about the American health care industry. A lot of people are talking a lot of trash about it and Mr. Moore. Whether you like the guy or not, I think that our health care system needs to be looked at; no more than that, this system needs an overhaul.

You can’t deny that there are way too many people in America without the benefits of health care, it just so happens that my family and I are some of them. It is hard since I have a baby and he needs to see the doctor every two months (at least), and those guys ain’t cheap. Well anyway, I was reading a review of the movie called “One sick flick” written by Peter Foster in which he gives Moore a bit of a bashing for his portrayal of the health care industry being driven by dollars. Well isn’t that the goal of these corporations? They wouldn’t stay in business otherwise. He called the movie “an attack on the American way of life (my laughter here). Why is pointing out a problem attacking, shouldn’t it be that he is exercising his freedom of speech to shed light on a growing problem (and I don’t mean his prostate)? But, I guess what Peter Foster is doing is the American way, bash the squeaky wheel until it falls off, don’t bother to oil it.

I find it interesting that those who have healthcare are the first to cry that nothing needs to change about the system, leave it alone. Is that another case of “I got mine, now you go get yours” type mentality? I would hope that everyone even this Peter Foster can see the benefits from some type of universal healthcare. I know that everyone will cry “but it will bankrupt us”, yeah, yeah, I’ve heard that before and I say hogwash. It hasn’t bankrupted France, Britain, Canada or even Cuba for that matter amongst others.

In the movie Moore actually takes a bunch of the 9/11 ground zero workers, who by the way have no health care, to Cuba to get the care they needed but couldn’t afford here in America. I guess that is an attack on the American way as well, you have no right going elsewhere for treatment, you stay here in the US and kill over from your sickness. Same thing we always hear, don’t buy your drugs from Canada or Mexico they aren’t safe. But, aren’t the drugs in Canada and Mexico made by American companies? Yes, I believe they are, so are they telling us that they are giving those people substandard drugs and the only safe stuff is here at home where they are twenty times more expensive?

Unfortunately, I didn’t seem to get a whole lot of answers out, just more questions. But, until we do something drastic, all we will have is questions like why did that person die from such a simple ailment. But we all know that it won’t make any difference to most people with healthcare until that question strikes home and they lose their precious health or healthcare.

A Little Personal Responsibility Please

chickenblame.jpg

When did the concept of personal responsibility get kicked to the curb by all the addiction and other excuses? A new trend seems to be in the works, that when someone does something terrible, just blame it on an addiction or the people or persons they have wronged.

The latest example in the news is two parents Michael and Iana Straw who are being prosecuted for child abuse and neglect of their 11 and 22 month old babies. The court said the parents allowed both babies to starve and contract serious mouth and genital infections. The only excuse that they have was being so addicted to the computer and online role playing video games that they couldn’t help it. Supposedly they had food in the home they just failed to give it to the babies. Luckily both babies are doing better in foster care.

We have heard this time and time again by some rogue preacher or politician who gets busted having gay sex or sex with a minor then “BAM!” next thing you know it was my addiction to some drug or the kid seduced me or maybe the gay act itself is addictive and off they go to rehab. A couple of months later, “I’m all better, no more drugs, no more kids, no more gay sex etc”. Try blaming the people like Michael Richards and Don Imus who both blame black people for their racist comments.

At a time when blacks are being talked to constantly about personal responsibility so many Americans are coming up with excuse after excuse for their abhorrent behavior. The point is none of these people are taking any responsibility at all while a whole race is having fingers pointed at them. The double standards are blatant and utterly ridiculous. Bill Cosby is constantly touring around to chastise blacks about their personal responsibility yet this is a man who had been paying child support to some white lady he had an affair with even though he wasn’t sure the child was his. I’m pretty sure it was just a little hush money, anyway WOW! Now that’s some double standards on personal responsibility for you.

They say that personal responsibility is what separates the adult from the child. I guess the United States is being overpopulated by large children. So the next time anything bad happens to you, I’m pretty sure you can just get rehab for it. Where does it end?
