No Surprise A White Cop Shoots Black Cop

cop on cop shooting

Scenario we’ve seen over and over again white cop, dead black man.  This scenario only differs because the black man just so happens to be a fellow police officer himself.  And of course now an investigation needs to be done in order to see whether this shooting had to do with race.  Really?  You think that white police officers are out gunning down white people left and right?

We have ALL seen police footage of white men holding guns, threatening people and cops and still NOT be gunned down.  They try and reason with the man, give him every opportunity to be taken down without bloodshed.  But somehow when the person is black not only do they get 50 or so bullets, but they get them without so much as a 5 minute window between being seen and being shot.

Have these city and police officials ever watched the video of the white cop abusing what he thought was just some random black man walking where the white cop felt he shouldn’t be?  And didn’t this random black man turn out to be a cop himself?  Was this race related, what a joke!  If this was a white man chasing a white man, the white cop would have stopped everyone involved and questioned them to no end, getting down to the nitty gritty of the situation.

It wasn’t just a case of cops being overzealous and shooting who they thought was a perpetrator like people are already saying. The black cop named Edwards actually called the crime in to the police before chasing the suspect down the street.  So why didn’t Edwards just unload his gun into this suspect if this is just what cops do?  He did what he was supposed to do; he did what ALL cops should do with ALL people black, white or whatever.  He did his best to protect and serve, not shoot and kill.

We are constantly making excuses, constantly doing investigations and constantly finding these white cops innocent of any and all murder charges after needlessly gunning down some black man in the street.  Whether he is an innocent man on his way home from the grocery store holding a bag of groceries, a man out with friends at a bachelor party, a kid walking down the street holding a candy bar or a black cop trying to subdue a suspect, our black men are walking around with shoot me signs plastered all over them which is synonymous with black skin.

People can talk all day about how mistakes are made.  Why are the cops not making these innocent mistakes with white men and women?  Why are these types of mistakes always directed at the brown and black folks?  And don’t tell me that it is because minorities commit more crimes.  We have seen that this is NOT the case.  The people being shot haven’t even committed a crime let alone fit any stereotype of a person who has.  I guess unless you count being a black or brown minority person.

This has got to stop!  And people wonder why minorities don’t trust the police.  Why should we trust a gang of people who are constantly coming into our neighborhoods under the guise of helpers who then turn around and shoot our innocent neighbors.  And don’t talk about the suspected criminals who are shot.  Because the last time I checked you are innocent UNTIL proven guilty.  So when an unarmed man is gunned down only to be implicated in a crime makes no sense since the cops did NOT know he/she was guilty of anything.  Not to mention don’t we give people a fair trial before we sentence them to death.  Again this has got to stop!

Is The Riot A Black Characteristic

After reading a few Blogs this morning one struck me with talk of rioting and if Barack Obama doesn’t win blacks will undoubtedly start rioting in the streets. Now I personally don’t feel that this is anywhere near correct. Also, there have been fingers pointed at the Kenyan riots as showing rioting just may be a characteristic related only to blacks. Blacks albeit will lash out when the stress of life’s circumstances are too much to bear and things explode like a powder keg in a Bar B Q pit. The talk of blacks and our supposedly rioting as some sort of black trait or some kind of example of the lawless nature of blacks then we must look at the act of rioting as it applies to whites.

As riots go white riots have been around since they came to America. Black riots got a running start in the 60’s and have been on the radar ever since. As I did some research on riots it seems that white people in race related riots destroy the property of blacks etc. Yet, the majority of white riots destroy their own things since they usually happen around schools or major sports events. Blacks started off destroying the white owned businesses but then degraded into destroying their own homes, stores and general community. This is a direct result of having the police come down far harder on blacks than whites during a given riot. Since the black community felt so helpless and forgotten that when rioting breaks out the looting begins.

While doing a bit of research on riots and those that have been white or predominantly so I have come across a lot of riots where the idea of the riot was just to terrorize blacks and destroy what little they had. The riots were always after the gossip of some black man or men after their white woman whether it is for rape or just any type of relationship. The next reason was the fact that blacks had a nerve to actually get jobs to support their families. For people to make statements that rioting shows that blacks can’t control their angry violent nature and are prone to mass violent outbursts is totally irresponsible and an outright lie. Following is stories of a few violent white riots followed by a list of others, as H. Rap Brown said, violence is as American as apple pie.

The Springfield Race Riot of 1908 was a mass civil disturbance in Springfield, Illinois, USA sparked by the transfer of two African American prisoners out of the city jail by the county sheriff. This act enraged many white citizens, who responded by burning black-owned homes and businesses and killing black citizens. By the end of the riot, there were at least seven deaths and US$200,000 in property damage. The riot led to the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization.

The Atlanta Race Riot of 1906 was a mass civil disturbance in Atlanta, Georgia, USA which began the evening of September 22nd and lasted until September 25th. At least 27 people died and over seventy were injured. Atlanta newspapers reported that black men were assaulting white women. The charges were not true, but the reports set off the Atlanta race riot of 1906. The official death count was 12 black and two white, but it has been claimed the real death toll was much higher as Atlanta authorities did not want to further damage the reputation of the city. The riot was reported in newspapers around the world but has not been taught in schools in the United States, and those who died have not been officially commemorated.

East St. Louis, in 1917, the United States had a strong economy boosted by World War I. Because many workers were being recruited for the war, firms also had jobs for African Americans, who began to migrate in great number from the South to St. Louis, among other northern and midwestern cities. Three thousand white men gathered downtown, and started to attack African Americans. They destroyed buildings and beat people. On July 1, a black teen that shot his attackers was fired on by a white mob. The boy then shot and killed two cops.

The next morning, thousands of white spectators who saw the bloodstained automobile marched to the black section of town and started rioting. After cutting the hoses of the fire department, the rioters burned entire sections of the city and shot inhabitants as they escaped the flames. Claiming that “Southern niggers deserve a genuine lynching,” they lynched several blacks. Guardsmen were called in, but several accounts reported that they joined in the rioting rather than stopping it. Others joined in, including allegedly “ten or fifteen young girls about 18 years old, who chased a black woman at the Relay Depot at about 5 o’clock. The girls were brandishing clubs and calling upon the men to kill the woman.” The renowned journalist Ida B. Wells reported in The Chicago Defender that 150 black people were killed during July in the rioting in East St. Louis.

Red Summer which included riots against blacks: 1919 – Charleston Race Riot, May 10, Charleston, South Carolina, – Washington, D.C. Race Riot, July 19, Washington, D.C., – Chicago Race Riot, July 27 – Aug. 2, Chicago, Illinois, – Knoxville Race riot, Aug. 30, Knoxville, Tennessee, Longview Race Riot, Longview, Texas, Omaha Race Riot, Sept. 28, Omaha, Nebraska, Elaine Race Riot, Oct. 1, Elaine, Arkansas. Was called the red summer for all the blood of blacks that was spilled during this massive onslaught of race motivated riots that happened to take place in 1919 over one summer.

The Tulsa Race Riot, also known as the 1921 Race Riot, The Night That Tulsa Died, the Tulsa Race War, or the Greenwood Riot, was a large-scale civil disorder confined mainly to the racially segregated Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA in 1921. During the 16 hours of rioting, over 800 people were admitted to local hospitals with injuries, an estimated 10,000 were left homeless, 35 city blocks composed of 1,256 residences were destroyed by fire, and $1.8 million (nearly $17 million after adjustment for inflation) in property damage. Officially, thirty-nine people were reported killed in the riot, of which 10 were white.

The actual number of black citizens killed as a result of the riot was estimated in the Red Cross report at around 300; making the Tulsa Race Riot the worst in US history. Other estimates range as high as 3,000, based on the number of grave diggers and other circumstances, although the archaeological and forensic work needed to confirm the number of dead has not been performed.

Rosewood was a small community of 25 to 30 mostly black families in Levy County in central Florida, USA. Today, it is best known for the racially driven attack on African Americans by whites in January 1923, known as the Rosewood massacre. The town was abandoned during the massacre. It had been a “whistle stop” on the Seaboard Air Line Railway, located on the north side of State Road 24 half a mile east of the intersection with Levy County Road 345.

Larry Craig Lynched Twice Ben Stein Says

Ben Stein is in the news today making comments in support for Senator Craig. He states “Senator Craig has been the victim of a police lynching. A party that believes in individual rights should be rallying to his defense, not making him walk the plank.” Now I am a fully on board when someone is “really” being abused by the police, but come on, Lynching! That is so condescending to the thousands of Black men who were lynched in the name of racial hatred. I am appalled that Mr. Stein feels it is appropriate to use a term that was born out of horrible circumstances to describe something so freaking trivial. Next Ben will swear that the poor Senators who he feels are being unfairly judged by their obvious unsuitable behavior are now victims of some undercover gay senator holocaust or maybe genocide. Please Ben your killing me.

Then to say “a party that believes in individual rights… What fantasy land are Ben and Senator Craig living in that he was a victim of anything other than his closeted man lust. The Republican Party doesn’t care for anyone’s individual rights; well maybe that of big business, but if they did why then, do we have so many Black men such as Sean Bell being gun down by the police in a hail of fifty bullets. Now that is what I call a police lynching and where was the Republican Party to protect these victims who are the constituents under their supposed protection. What reason does the Republican Party as well as the Democrats get behind for these blatant cases of “real” lynching, well it was due to “contagious shooting,” yep that crap actually flies with them. Maybe this is why the government took so long to get around to doing something about the people who were suffering after hurricane Katrina. They were too busy trolling around in men’s restrooms and parks or underage chat rooms.

I don’t understand Ben Stein’s grievance he says “Here’s the deal: Senator Craig went into a men’s room at the Twin Cities airport. He entered a lavatory stall. He tapped his foot. He may or may not have reached his hand down under the lavatory partition to pick up a piece of paper or to make a signal. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. There was no sex act of any kind.” Well I don’t think that cops are supposed to engage in a sex act with the perpetrator in order to ascertain that he should be arrested for “soliciting” sex from the officer. I think it is the soliciting part that gives that fact away; which from what “my” dictionary says is to ask somebody for something or to offer sex for money. Now he did a combination of the two.

Ben also states that “If a police officer can wreck a man’s career over this trifle, then we might as well not have a Constitution or a Bill of Rights.” Uh, what? For one thing this statement would assume that the police officer knew that the man in the other stall was Senator Craig and he then put his Machiavellian plan into the works grabbing the Senator and so began to put the screws in. Then you also have to wonder if this cop was so gung ho on screwing up the man’s career why then didn’t he run this information right to the press after the arrest? Wouldn’t that do more to ruin his career than to sit back in the shadows doing his job (and I am no fan of cops) and let the newspaper come upon the information two months later.

Wow, that cop was really hell bent on getting Craig alright. Come on Ben, I mean when Sean Bell was killed the cop claims they made eye contact and that was enough for him to know that Sean knew that he was a cop. Now if that was this officers story that he looked at him and somehow knew that the Senator wanted sex, I would be right there with you guys, but he went through a whole ritual of how you approach someone for a gay tryst. I mean would you come to a guy’s rescue that saw a lady on the street, walks up to her and says hey pssst, then pulls out a twenty dollar bill and waives it at her. She pulls out a badge and waives it at him. Would Mr. Stein claim that this man should be left alone since there wasn’t any sexual contact? Now Ben is this a modern day lynching of that poor man who is probably going to lose his wife, family, job, a gob of money and maybe his freedom? I think not, she didn’t force him to solicit, so I guess he, you and definitely Senator Craig should do what you always want everyone else to do and take responsibility for your own actions.

The New Slave Trade Alive In New Orlean’s

Rosetta James cries for her son 29 year old Glenn Thomas, who died in the Orleans Parish Prison. Unfortunately, none of the Prison authorities, the Sheriff’s office nor City or State Officials notified her of this. She had to be told by a family friend who received a call from their loved one who was in the jail with Glenn. Rosetta angrily went to the prison on July 4th for information, she was told that her son who had absolutely no known medical problems, died the night before of “natural causes”, and that if she wanted she could call back in a month to get an official report.

Glenn Thomas died while awaiting his day in court; he was picked up on a warrant for failure to appear in court for simple drug possession. The unfortunate part happens to be, that on his stated court date the city of New Orleans was uninhabitable and people were being kept from entering in this part of the city. So, if no one can enter, then how was the court date still in effect? He sat in jail for one year awaiting his trial date but never made it. Criminal Sheriff Marlin Gusman’s public information officer, Renee Lapeyrolerie, said they couldn’t provide details about Thomas’s death but said, “Well, in his criminal history he had a lot of drug arrests. Those things can be linked to health problems.”

This is the third such “natural cause” death there this year, and they just don’t know how any of these deaths occurred. Sheriff Gusman blames anything that goes on in the jail as “the prisoners own fault or not enough money”. We know that he didn’t commit suicide, and money isn’t the problem as the jail receives a per diem amount and 3.2 million dollars per year intended for medical expenses towards the inmates’ wellbeing. In his 2007 budget request to the City Council, Gusman asked for an additional $5 million for medical services, a request that was granted. People are speculating that the Sheriff would like to get the numbers inhabiting his prison back to the pre-Katrina amount, stating that they are pretty sure they know exactly “who” will be the inhabitants.

Sheriff Gusman has made sure that the city’s trail to revitalization will be paved by his inmates–literally. According to the Nation, “since Katrina, Gusman has used his Community Service Program and Neighborhood Response Team to deliver cheap labor for reconstruction projects. His office’s website features photos of inmates in orange jumpers and sweatshirts emblazoned with Sheriff Gusman Community Service Program next to road signs announcing, Project Clean-Up, Inmates Working.” According to the Nation, in its first session back after Katrina the legislature amended a law regulating parish jail labor in order to grant immunity to prison authorities “for injuries or damages caused or suffered by prisoners participating in any work program during incarceration at parish jail facilities.” When asked, a legislative staffer about the origins of the post-Katrina amendment, she said, “I believe it was because there was a labor shortage.”

This is pretty much the way things were about a century ago. The Antebellum city records refer to what is now the Orleans Parish Prison as the “Workhouse”. Also along with those arrested for crime, the jail was a storehouse for slaves whose masters chose to lease them to the Workhouse. The same archives also disclose that Blacks were sent to the Workhouse for “claiming to be free”: In the space where the master’s name was usually recorded, these inmates were referred to as “so-called free.” After the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, Blacks arrested in New Orleans for black-code crimes such as vagrancy and unemployment were taken to the parish Workhouse. During Reconstruction, the incarcerated former slaves provided a stable pool of forced labor for railroad companies, agriculture and industry.

Lieutenant Eric Donnelly, director of the sheriff’s work-release program told a local business paper that the program played such a vital role in re-starting the city’s economic engine. “As soon as the hurricane ended and we got a new phone, it was ringing off the hook from employers saying they needed their inmates,” Donnelly said. “So as soon as we were getting them back in we had [employers] coming to pick them up themselves. That’s how much they rely on this program.” These employers might as well be calling looking for their “Slaves”. But, obviously to New Orlean’s as well as the rest of the nation, it doesn’t matter as long as those bad, bad black people are off the streets, whether that be dead from god only knows what in an overcrowded prison yet to even face charges, or worked like a slave just as their ancestors had, by a chain gang happy Sheriff.

Cops Kill Five Yr Old Instead Of Snake

Police officers shot an innocent five year old boy in the head while they dimwittedly shoot at a snake. This is the same old irresponsible behavior we can expect out of our police force. I come down hard on the police department because they hold our lives in their hands. Stupid mistakes like this one costs lives and as we see here it did. They are supposed to be trained to think of the consequences of their actions and those of others while handling situations. But, again we see that either the people that we are brining in to these police departments or the training is extremely poor.

Little Austin Haley standing with his grandfather looking over a pond where they planned to fish, when out of nowhere the baby was shot in the head killing him. Why did this happen, you would think that it was some random act of violence by some crazy gang members or whatever your worse case scenario is. But, that wasn’t the case at all, it seems these Keystone cops were being threatened by a snake and decided to start shooting when one of their stray bullets that did the deed. Now this should be an open and shut case but the officers were placed on administrative leave.

How can they explain their actions in this case? Sure the snake in a tree was threatening yet was it so threatening that it became an opportunity for the police to start shooting like it was the wild, wild, west. This is just one such question that we should be asking. If they don’t get charged I will be disgusted. I understand people are saying to wait until we get more information and that all the facts aren’t in or what have you. But, we need to start sending a serious message to these gun wielding nuts on the force that they need to start using better judgment.

I have been hearing every excuse in the book as to why people are being shot. We made eye contact so he should have known I was a cop, I had contagious shooting, and now I was aiming at the snake. How many people have to be shot before we start doing something real about this problem? Every time someone is shot, it seems that the court sees it as legitimate or accidental so no charges are filed. I am pretty sure if this were the cops or judges children all you would hear is GUILTY. Let’s take a look at the people and training before more innocent lives are lost. The grandfather Mr. Tracy said “I’m not saying the cop shot him on purpose,”It was an accident. But let me tell you — if I had a kid and put him in this car and didn’t put him in a car seat and he got killed on the way to town, they’d charge me with murder … and what this cop did is a lot worse than that.”

Are Police Getting Away With Modern Day Lynchings?

Danny Brumfield, 45, was shot in front of the New Orleans convention center after walking in front of a police car, carrying a pair of shears. The police say it was a case of self defense, the District attorney Eddie Jordan agreed, then closed any investigations and charges will not be filed. Now the autopsy report is in and the evidence now shows that Brumfield was shot in the back by a single shotgun blast. Unfortunately Jordan now claims that even with the new autopsy report “I don’t believe that autopsy alone is sufficient to create a situation where we would be able to carry our burden of proof.” As far as being shot in the back Jordan says that “how Mr. Brumfield was shot in the back.” Jordan is suggesting that conceivably he was turning or falling off the patrol car at the time.

The police officers maintain that Brumfield was making stabbing motions, with the shears, when he ended up on the hood of the car, no one was sure whether he was hit by the car or jumped on the hood. His daughter who was sleeping outside the convention center witnessing some of the action agreed with the police that he was on the hood hanging on and then she heard the shot. His family explains that he had the shears because he was cutting cardboard for his grandchildren to sleep on so they wouldn’t have to sleep on cold concrete. The officer Ronald Mitchell who fired the fatal shot was terminated police spokeswoman Sabrina Richardson said; claiming it was due to “a domestic violence issue with his wife”.

This is yet another case from New Orleans of police being out of control. How does a person get shot square in the back and have it deemed justifiable by authorities. I understand that he may “have” been threatening the police officers, but he had shears and his back was obviously at the officers, so it seems that it would be prudent to handle the situation differently. Such as, firing a non-fatal shot or maybe just not using the shotgun. The police in New Orleans were involved in many other shootings involving blacks that are being either prosecuted or investigated at this time. Such as Ronald Madison an unarmed, mentally retarded man with no criminal record, who was killed by a shotgun blast to his back, the police officer told the investigators that Madison had turned and reached into his waistband right before the officer opened fire. The officer who was charged with first degree murder has resigned from the force. Six other policemen also were charged for the shootout on Danziger Bridge. Three others were indicted in the killing of a second person on the bridge. All of the officers have pleaded innocent, and are awaiting trial.

This to me is a wakeup call that people need to see that it is obviously OK to shoot, maim, kill, beat down, and any other violent thing that cops would like to do to blacks. But, yet people are saying that “racism is pretty much dead” or “look how far blacks have come”. These statements are just ridiculous. What I say is look at the facts, so many blacks are being shot numerous times apparently justifiably due to the “contagious shooting theory”. It is interesting that cops never seem to get “contagious shooting” when shooting at white people. Also, the frequent beatings blacks get, but judges and people say that the person shouldn’t be struggling and they wouldn’t be beaten. Well I don’t know about you, but if someone is beating me, I’m going to struggle. Unfortunately, I guess white people never struggle when being arrested, so there is no need to beat them, just blacks.

All this is showing me that blacks are under attack and it seems that it’s just as justifiable as it was when lynching a black was taking place (more often). Also things in America are more the same than ever. What else we should see, is that we blacks need to be kept in line by any means necessary.

Excessive Police Abuse Again

Another excessive abuse case caught my eye this week. We the people are becoming extremely complacent with these types of cases. After all we see this behavior constantly on shows such as COPS, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and any others you can think of. People constantly ask “well what did they do to make the cops behave that way?” When we ask these types of questions we become part of the problem. So the question really is “what is wrong with the cop to make him act that way?” After all police officers receive plenty of training in keeping calm and cool in very stressful and demanding circumstances.

The abuse was geared towards an older black woman (surprise!) named Shundrea May in St. Louis because of three warrants, the worst being for nothing more than an unpaid ticket; for an uncovered garbage can. There were three officers on the scene, two talking to Ms. May who asked to put on a shirt since she answered the door in pants and a robe. The officers agreed so when she turned to get the shirt a third officer rushed up from behind the first two and grabbed her by the arm and started twisting until she ended up at the emergency room with a severe sprain. All for an uncovered trash can, which if you look down her block pretty much all the cans were uncovered. The cops admit they probably won’t be arrested for their cans, gee I wonder why?
The officer a Mr. Garyani a three year veteran already had another complaint of excessive force just a week before this incident. Officer Garyani said “The inference that I used excessive force is incorrect. Other officers didn’t react the way they should have. When she attempted to leave the area, I restrained her. The other officers failed to act in a professional capacity.” He has been placed on suspension which could be made permanent soon.
Listening to this man and you would think that the poor lady was a serial killer; maybe she was a serial garbage lid leave’er off’er and deserved what she got. This is just another drop in the bucket of cops and other authority figures using unwarranted roughness when dealing with blacks. I hear over and over that people are tired of hearing about blacks being abused by cops, but until we stop getting abused by cops; I hope that we all continue talking about it.
