The Socialist Under The Bed

I think I have just about had my fill of this stupid socialism cry from the McCain/Palin camp. It is ridiculous to continue the old McCarthyism mantra of there is a communist hiding in the closet. Yet now it is a socialist under the bed. The hypocrisy is that Palin herself has implemented these very same ideas in Alaska and McCain has endorsed this idea as well.

They believe that it is socialism to give tax cuts to the middle class while repealing the large tax cuts for the wealthy. Hmmm, let me get this straight it is bad to give tax cuts to the middle class and good to give tax cuts to the wealthiest people and companies. Ok, I get it now. So, McCain continuing the tax cuts of Bush are somehow going to build jobs.

It is obvious that the McCain Palin ticket is extremely desperate to continue these lies. What about their supporters? Are they that stupid or that blind that they would rather see tax cuts go to the wealthiest people because…Somehow this will help them in the long run, when they are already hurting for money and can barely pay rent, mortgage or buy food and gas. Right, that sounds like a stupid plan endorsed by a bunch of stupid people who don’t have the good sense to have self preservation.

Yet, these same fools will agree how great it is that Palin herself redistributed the wealth in Alaska. She took wealth from the oil companies and distributed it to those who had less wealth. By cutting a twelve hundred dollar check to each and every Alaskan. And this is not socialism why?

McCain can cluck about making the Bush tax cuts permanent which were to take from the middle class and give it to those making over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. So I guess according to McCain or Palin socialism is only when it is money going from rich to poor or that at least when it is done by Obama. I get it.

It seems to me that McCain’s straight talk express just lost ANOTHER wheel. I don’t know if this guy even has any wheels left on that bus. I think he is rolling on rims like one of those fools running from the cops down a Los Angeles freeway. I am sure this wheel is probably the spare. Anyhow, this is just another diversion which shows that McCain has no clue how to run a campaign let alone this country. Why would anyone want to put all of our lives in the hands of a fool who can’t even run a half successful

  1. We’ve had 8 count’em 8 years of this Bush economics… I think thats enough time for it to work if it was going to work at all… so where are we? 9th straight month of job losses… stock market down… credit crises… but as usual in the republican party no accountability not even an “I’m sorry” or a “we screwed up” nothing but vote us back in so we can give you more of the same.
Theblacksentinel, I just don’t get it. Well, yeah, I do… It makes me sad that we’re/they’re so … Man, I don’t even want to talk about this crap. it’s so freak’n blatant. How can people not see… Same ole shit… We in this country will cut off our nose to spite our face. I can’t wait till the mexicans take over as the majority in this country. White people are so afraid that they’ll get treated like they’ve been treating people for centuries. They don’t realize that we’re not out for revenge, we’re out for equality. They’re the one’s so caught up on SUPERIORITY!!!
Check out this article whomever is out there… I’m not a CEO, I’m not the ones cutting pay and firing people so why would I side with them? The CEO and big business isn’t what create jobs we the people (remember that) do!!!!

  2. Damien,

You are so right. WE create the jobs. If we don’t have money to request services or goods, then there is NO need to hire more people to do those services or make those goods.

So giving a tax cut to the wealthiest people does NOTHING for job creation. Until people realize that the jobs will come when the people requesting things have the funds to do so. Until then we will be spinning our wheels in the mud like McCain and his straight lies express.

Thanks for the reply and link.

  4. That straight talk express has been through so many wrecks and has so many dents by now that it looks like that school bus in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Our country, just about every country on the planet, is based on some form of socialism. We collect taxes for our social programs like the military and the fire department. We’ve always had a multi-tiered tax system. Rich people have always had a higher tax rate. It’s not socialism, it is civic responsibility. Those who have more give more.

I’m all for a single rate tax system. Let’s make everybody pay the same rate for their gross income. Get rid of all loop holes and tax breaks. If you make it, you pay it. That way we don’t have to worry about any socialism boogie man.

    Peace

The comparison between Democrats and Socialists is not that crazy…

Democrats favor Big Government… Regulating this, outlawing that, taxing everything (sometimes twice, like the so-called “Death Tax”).

Socialists favor Huge-Government… Regulating this, outlawing that, taxing everything to pay for all that the government brings to the table.

I can only be thankful that for the next 2 years, at least, my Second Amendment rights won’t be taken from me. The Democrats failed to get a two-thirds majority that they needed to take away those rights.

If they get 6 or 7 more seats in congress in 2010, it will only be criminals that own guns… and then we are all in trouble.

  6. Justaguy,

You don’t seem to fully understand WHAT socialism is. It isn’t just about big government regulating things.

Socialism is collective ownership of everything in the state. Such as how REPUBLICAN Sarah Palin said that all the resources in Alaska were collectively owned by everyone. Then took money from the oil companies and doled it out to each individual in the state.

Now does that make Alaska or Sarah Palin or the Republicans socialists? Now your gun fears are just silly. There isn’t any Democrats who will be stupid enough to try and tackle the second amendment. They will probably want a ban on hand guns but not ALL guns.

Not to mention Canada has a ban on handguns and has pretty low gun crime statistics. Does this make Canada a bunch of socialists. The phony fear is just too much for me to tolerate. The reality is that these politicians want to stay in office. And they will not do anything to endanger that. The Republicans DID and we see what happened.

    Thanks for the reply.

  7. Justaguy, Black Sentinel has explained what socialism is, and that it’s not “big government” or enforcing the Second Amendment.

I’d like to point out, also, that it’s a myth that Democrats favor big government.

If you mean big government spending, then in recent decades, Republican administrations have consistently spent much more on government than Democratic administrations.

If you mean high taxes, then Obama’s tax proposals would result in lower taxes for all Americans than McCain’s would … except for those in the highest tax brackets.

(How much of the tax burden to put on poor, middle-class, and rich citizens is an interesting debate, but it’s not about socialism. The Republicans agree that wealthier Americans should pay far more than the middle class, for instance.)

If you mean regulating businesses, then the Republicans (including Bush and McCain) agree that there wasn’t enough regulation of Wall Street to prevent the current financial crisis. In fact, McCain argued strenuously that Obama was unfit to lead our economy because he hadn’t been willing to regulate enough.

If you mean regulating our personal lives, then which party favors more regulation clearly depends on what kind of regulation you mean. Democrats, for instance, prefer gun control and health care reform, while Republicans favor government laws limiting our reproductive choices and who we can marry. There are not pro-regulation and anti-regulation parties in this country.

I can only be thankful that for the next 2 years, at least, my Second Amendment rights won’t be taken from me.

Actually, that issue is in the hands of the Supreme Court, not the Congress. Earlier this year, the Court issued a ruling on the Second Amendment which, as a constitutional interpretation, Congress can’t change by legislation. Just like Roe v. Wade.

  8. James,

    Excellent points!

    Thanks for the reply.

“Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly.”– Wikipedia

Yes, Canada is a Socialist nation… at least as close to being socialist as you can be without being officially labeled as Socialist. At least they have good weed to keep everyone complacent. Hell, if i were offered the choice between being stoned all day, every day… but having to pay for everyone’s healthcare, or being stone cold sober and still paying everyone’s healthcare, I would probably chose the former, not the latter.

You bring up the fact that “politicians want to stay in office. And they will not do anything to endanger that.” That is a very true statement. But it also extends to those who wish to be elected to a certain office.

Why was Illegal Immigration such a huge concern a year ago, but not one of these candidates brought that up in their respective campaigns? The answer is: “Politicians want to stay in office. And they will not do anything to endanger that.”

You are 100% correct with that statement.

In regard to Ms. Palin’s claims that the resources in Alaska are open to everyone… Do you know who owned the land which she referred?

I had read it was National Park land… so if it is… then yes, we as Americans own those resources. Maybe you can clarify that.

  10. Justaguy,

What silly statements you’ve made. You would rather be stoned than to pay for everyone’s health care? Well why don’t you find someone to stone you because you are paying for everyone to get fire and police service.

Right now you are helping to pay for the elderly on social security to obtain health care and living payments. Hmm. You are helping to pay for people to drive on roads, bridges, walk on sidewalks. You just don’t know how many things in this country are based on “social-isms.

Sorry Palin wasn’t talking about parks. She is spreading the wealth by taking money from oil and gas companies with higher taxes. Then distributing that money to those who have less than the oil and gas companies. Isn’t that socialism or is she just being Robin Hood? So maybe YOU can clarify why she is doling out oil companies money to those who make less.

    Thanks for the reply.

  11. Justaguy, you’re selectively quoting from Wikipedia.

The Wikipedia entry on socialism begins as follows:

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society.

Does that make any sense to you? A 4% difference in the marginal tax rate between Obama and McCain doesn’t amount to seizing ownership and management of the means of production.

John McCain spoke movingly, in his concession speech last night, about how Barack Obama’s victory was an important step towards an egalitarian society. That doesn’t make McCain a socialist, any more than did his plans to redistribute the wealth almost as much as Obama proposed doing.
