My Return From Hiatus

Well, I have been away on a long over due hiatus.  And I didn’t even give anyone a heads up that I was taking this little hiatus and I am sorry about that.  Hey, I needed a little me time.  And trust me I have been using my time wisely.

For one, I had been thinking a lot about the ridiculous comments that I get on this blog.  And just grew tired of the same mindless drivel flowing so freely from the minds of the zombie like idiots that come my way.  It just boggles the mind that these people are actually voting and working amongst us.  Scary!

Next, I decided to do a tune up on the two kid mommy body.  I X’d it out with some P90X and I am ecstatically happy about the results I am getting.  I can’t wait to do this again.  Sounds like torture but you know what, once you start seeing the results you don’t want to stop.

We have had this system for a good 3 years, since my significant other, the fit and fabulous guy he is, did the p90X right after I had our little bundle of joy.   And I wish I had engaged in it sooner.  I did do the diet portion since I needed to cook for him while he X’d it out.  But, I wasn’t ready for the exercise regimen and probably wouldn’t have finished.  Actually I KNOW I wouldn’t have finished.  I am glad I waited because now was the perfect time.

And last but certainly not least, I have been giving my kids way more time for going to the park and fun things like that.  My youngest son needs different therapies and I wanted to take this time to make totally certain that he is getting and will get the best care that he deserves.  Being an advocate for your child, and probably anyone, is very time consuming.

I am sure this becomes painfully more time consuming when you have to fight with insurance companies who wish to stiff your child and deny them the critical services that they need to be healthy.  It is ridiculous.  And for people to sit around and complain about the health care bill being too much and how it is terrible need to suddenly find themselves with a disorder or a child with a disorder, syndrome or some other illness that requires intensive treatment.  Then their little tune will change immediately.  I have problems with the bill as well.  Not because it does too much, but because it doesn’t do enough!  They needed to go miles further.

There is nothing worse than a bunch of ignorant people who never have to use their health care to sit around and tell others that they don’t deserve to be protected from greedy overzealous money driven insurance companies who work day in and day out trying to figure out ways in order to deny coverage for necessary treatments in order to maximize profits.  But, who cares as long as it isn’t you or your kid or family in general.

As long as it happens to people you never have to see, that is fine and dandy.  But, some of us are willing to pay our fair share in order to ensure that the least of us have the same access to the best health care.  Thank god that we have a seriously good health care plan or who knows what types of fights I would be having.

I probably wouldn’t have one minute to spare.  Actually, I probably would have plenty of time as my child would just be one more of those who are suffering with no care because too many selfish jackasses can only think of themselves and how they need to be ensured they don’t and won’t ever have to help anyone.  Yet, expect to be helped when they need it.

We saw a lot of this when so many people from the auto unions were complaining about being over taxed and those taxes going to give handouts.  But then the minute the auto makers decided to close plants here, the union workers were picketing and crying into the news cameras about how they needed help or they would be losing their homes and medical etc.  REALLY?  I wish someone would have taken them a tape of the town hall meetings they were screaming at and ask them why their views suddenly changed about help.  Who wants a handout now?

When are we going to understand that taxes aren’t a bad thing?  We have tea party fools yelling they don’t want to pay any taxes.  They don’t want to pay taxes yet expect the fire man to miraculously show up to their burning house.  Have the police run in to protect them when something goes wrong.  Have a nicely paved road to drive their fancy new car on.  Or better yet, help bail their company out so they don’t lose their jobs.  And have all of this without shelling out one red cent.

How ignorant have we really become?  No one is saying that taxes are the bomb and we should love it.  But, I am saying that we should be willing to pay our fair share to ensure the betterment of our community.  And by community I mean entire country of fellow citizens.  Not the sheltered little bubble some of you live in, where you don’t ever have to mingle with the insurance deprived.  Well that is until they serve you your Big Mac.

We can all take a page from Zig Ziglar that you can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.  And thus if we want to be healthy happy people, we need to ensure that we are helping others to be healthy and happy as well.

The Epidemic Of Ignoring The Real Story

derrion

What exactly IS an epidemic?  We constantly hear this term when anything negative happens in the black community.  Well according to dictionary dot com (not disease) it means extremely prevalent; widespread.  The next definition is a rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of something.

Now I feel that the Derrion Albert death was totally ridiculous and callous occurrence.  My problem is that these deaths which total 40, is far from an epidemic.  Is it too many?  Hell yes!  But where were these CNN and other reporters or principals such as Steve Perry, who think they know all the answers or the rest who have so much to say all with little answers, back when there were 1 death, 2 deaths or 39 deaths?

We like to pick and choose what we label as out of control or epidemic.  CNN has a story running right now on workplace violence which is overly represented by white society and they haven’t once called it an epidemic.  They say that homicide is 42% of all workplace deaths and that isn’t an epidemic?  Yet, somehow we are now having an epidemic after 40 deaths.

According to Harvard 45,000 people a year die because of lack of health care resulting in lack of medical attention.  Isn’t that an epidemic that we should be focusing on and crying about?  And we ALL want to sit and focus on 40 teens.  This is why this country is going to hell in a hand basket, and not a very nice looking one either.  We are way too focused on keeping inequality with phony outrage.

It goes all the way back to the per capita versus full numbers game.  We like to focus ALL of our attention on things with small numbers that don’t affect us directly even though what DOES affect us with large numbers flies under the radar.  Or we tend to look at the symptoms and never the root cause.  Could we possibly be looking at the backlash from all the overwhelming poverty that black and other minority inner city children, adults and families have to deal with day in and day out?

We cry like the world is ending when the unemployment rate for the generic yet overwhelmingly white majority reaches 9%; yet could have cared less that the unemployment rate for blacks has been up over 10% for a very long time now.  Maybe we should be concerned with ALL of our people. . . Oh! My bad! That would be socialism and thus bad.  We all need to continue focusing on ourselves, even though it gets us nowhere.

OPEC is talking about dropping the dollar as the currency of their trade.  And it makes me wonder if this whole concern with Chicago is just another distraction from the real issues.  When the dollar is no longer the trade status of oil we are going to see a collapse of the dollar and then what?  We know what happens when a country’s currency collapses. Just look at Zimbabwe and that out of control inflation.  Thousands of dollars for a loaf of bread.

And according to The Independent, “Iran announced late last month that its foreign currency reserves would henceforth be held in Euros rather than dollars. Bankers remember, of course, what happened to the last Middle East oil producer to sell its oil in Euros rather than dollars. A few months after Saddam Hussein trumpeted his decision, the Americans and British invaded Iraq.”  Are we going to end up in yet another war?  And all we can focus on is this phony so called epidemic of black gang violence which has resulted in a whopping 40 dead.

Double Dose: Hypocrisy AND Idiocy

stupid sign against health care plan

A lot has been going on for me right now and I have yet to weigh in on this health care bill whine fest.  It seems to me that the only people I have seen whining about this bill are those who a: have health care so wouldn’t even be affected, b: have Medicare and are already enjoying socialized medicine, or c: could care less about the health care aspect and just want their country back from the bad black man who stole it while being not only some sort of an illegal alien, but Muslin and Christian all at once.

We have tons of people showing up to these “town hall meetings” screaming, yelling wielding signs that shows either some crazy statements about how Obama wants to kill your grandma to him being Hitler.  Now I don’t care for Obama either, but that is for totally different reasons and a whole other story.  But some of the things these people are saying are so ridiculous they make Sponge Bob sound like a Rhodes Scholar.

Do these people realize that crying about tax dollars being spent on abortion is a moot point since Medicaid has been paying for abortion for years?  And the last time I checked those dollars came out of tax payer pockets, so oh well.  And even if this were a point that matters, what gives them the right to dictate who gets what?  Aren’t they arguing that they don’t want the government dictating their health care to them?  I guess it is ok for them to dictate others care though.

People are also trying to make light of the racism issue revolving around this matter.  The fact that they are opposing Obama is NOT what makes them racist.  The fact that they keep somehow hearkening back to this founding father bullshit that we all know kept blacks in their place is the problem.  Where in the hell were these freaks over the last eight years while Bush literally shred the constitution and used it as so much toilet paper?

We have had eight years of lies, corruption, mismanagement, out of control spending and war.  And now these people want to talk about how the government is out of control.  These are the same idiotic people who sat around while our government headed by George Bush did nothing for five whole days as people drowned died of heat and starvation in New Orleans.  Yet, now want to cry about how they think the government wants to kill someone.

And to top this off with something that speaks to the stupidity and hypocrisy of these people.  On Fox Phony News, they showed the lady named Katy Abrams who was at a Specter town meeting talking about how they woke a sleeping giant with her.  She said that she and others like her had the right to voice their opinions and no more than a minute later she said that she was angry that people are calling her and having the nerve to voice their opinions to her.

WHAT?!?  She can voice HER opinions but no one else has the right to voice theirs?  This is the ultimate hypocrisy that you get from these idiots.  They constantly talk about how every country with socialized medicine is so terrible and doesn’t work yet, somehow these countries aren’t out in force protesting the fact that they HAVE health care.  And I don’t see them all coming here to join our dysfunctional systems.

The problem as I see it is that we have too many people who have health care who could care less about those without.  But, the minute their insurance denies their life saving surgery or whatever, they will be on television crying and begging for someone to do something.  Don’t we see that everyday?  At least I do.  And why doesn’t someone tell me what socialized medicine those people are a part of?  I never saw Medicare or Medicaid deny anyone the care they needed.  So it couldn’t be killing someone’s granny after all.

We The Sheeple. . .

sheeple.gif

While reading my new issue of BabyTalk magazine I ran across the Mom’s sound off section where mom’s can complain about articles from the last issue. The last issue had an article about universal health coverage, and minimum wage amongst other things in an article titled “Mom Power”. A lady named Melissa commented that she became really angry because “not every mom agrees with universal health coverage for all children in this country” and “a minimum wage that is a living wage.” In her opinion, it is her and her husband’s responsibility to provide health care for their children – not the government’s job. She then goes on to say that they are a one parent income as she is a stay at home mother etc. And that they can still provide the basic necessities even on their small income.

She claims that minimum wage is not, nor was not intended to be a “living wage”. It is a starting point for teens and those with second jobs – not meant for supporting a family. That those people need to get motivated, work their way up and they’ll make a living wage – and probably get a good health plan! As I read this tripe I became totally disgusted. Then a lady named Krishawn felt that Universal health insurance etc. is more akin to a “Nanny State” and that living wage jobs and health coverage already exists and are achieved by working hard and making the right decisions. After quitting her job to become a stay at home mom they lost their health coverage which was through her job and now they pay for it out of pocket. Now they don’t live beyond their means but doesn’t expect the state to subsidize their lifestyle. We don’t universal health coverage and minimum wage laws imposed on the already overburdened employers and taxpayers to get it.

All the talk of how the government doesn’t owe anything to anyone is pretty stupid. What if not to provide for its people is the government for? We do not pay our taxes so that the government can tell us that we don’t deserve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. How can I have life if I don’t have good health, since that is a life necessity. I suppose that we could decide that we pay taxes for the government to just pay themselves. So why should we be offered universal fire department coverage, or how about the use of the police department or mail services.

How about we let the HMO’s take over the fire department, then you can expect to have your fire and rescue serviced denied after they find out that your child played with matches and they can call it a pre-existing condition for fire, no matter how the fire started. These are things that we get with the healthcare system of today. Healthcare isn’t a luxury it is a basic necessity that should be afforded to EVERYONE. Yet you have these idiots who can say that they don’t feel that every child deserves healthcare, just theirs since they can afford it.

Which brings me to the minimum wage which both these ladies feel doesn’t need to be a living wage. WHAT!?! Are they serious? Not everyone can have that high paying job not even every college graduate can get the best job. So basically what they are saying is that if you can’t be the ONE to get the good job then shut up and take whatever pittance the minimum wage job offers. Whether you can afford to feed your family doesn’t matter and neither they nor anyone else needs to worry about it, so long as they can feed theirs. See this is what is wrong with America, the all about ME attitude that we have when confronted with the problems of others.

These poor overburdened companies that Krishawn talked about work so hard to help. Yet while companies like Wal-Mart are refusing to neither pay workers a living wage yet offer their workers a healthcare plan that has a seven thousand dollar deductible which is akin to no healthcare at all. Since most people not only aren’t making a living wage but don’t have seven thousand dollars to shell out in an emergency or otherwise. All this and Wal-Mart is pulling down at least seventeen billion dollars. And I should be feeling sorry for them? I agree that healthcare is too expensive right now for anyone be they companies or individuals. The problem is that we need to take profit out of healthcare. But government healthcare is socialism or communism.

These are the types of hypocrites that we in America not only produce but strive to be ourselves. We constantly see people on television crying about not being helped by this or that and then you see all of the surveys talking about people finding healthcare or social help unacceptable. It probably is unacceptable until they are the ones who need it. The problem is that these ladies and most of these people with this mentality are just spewing the same rhetoric that you hear constantly out of the government especially the right. Instead of starting the constitution with we the people maybe we should just be starting it with we the sheeple!
