Should Religious Beliefs Trump Legal Rights?

People such as Rose Marie Belforti pictured above, the town clerk in Ledyard NY decided that she just can’t give out marriage licenses to gay couples due to her religion so she did just that, told a lesbian couple they will need to come back and get that license when one of her subordinates could do it for them.

Now, unfortunately I don’t believe that she was hired to a job in government due to her religion or based on her religion.  Her religion is her religion and that is something for her to keep to herself at her home.  She actually has no right to bring her philosophical beliefs to the workplace and infringe on others rights.  Belforti says state law “protects my right to hold both my job and my beliefs.”

Where state law DOES protect her right to hold her beliefs, it DOESN’T protect her from failing to do her job.  That right there should have this fool kicking up dust all the way to the unemployment office where someone there should deny her service because their god says only pretty people need be served.  And you know what I’m talkin’ bout’, just look at her.  And my god says it is my right to call it like I see it!

The bible says in Genesis 3:16 – “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children.  So me being a nurse, would she be in support of me denying her or her daughter’s call for pain medication during the delivery of a child.  Should I say that in good Christian faith, I can’t get her any pain medication nor call an anesthesiologist due to my Christian beliefs which says that women should be in extreme pain during childbirth?  And that her or her daughter will have to wait eight hours or more until my shift ends before they can have their pain alleviated due to my beliefs, is that acceptable to her.

People are so hypocritical.  It is becoming much more prevalent these days.  I want to deny people rights they have under the law based on my fucked up views of religion etc.  All the while expecting others to respect their rights not only to do everything they want to do that complies with the law.  She would never understand a teacher at her daughter’s school saying that he can’t teach her because his religious views say that women shouldn’t be allowed to be educated.  And that her daughter will need to wait until she can get into another teacher’s class who will tolerate females being educated.  She would expect this male teacher be fired, or disciplined in some way.

This woman should be fired.  It is not her place to bring her religion to work.  It is not her right to force her beliefs on anyone else.  It IS her job to hand out marriage licenses not to administer religious teaching.  And it is high time that we put a stop to these people who feel that their rights trump everyone else’s rights.  There is nothing written in the constitution placing anyone person’s rights above another.  Well except when we are dealing with black folks, but that’s another story isn’t it.

Where does it stop?  Do we have to be subject to others views of the bible which can be pretty damaging?  When does the stoning start?  Do I get to tell my boss that even though I am required to work on the Sabbath, I won’t and I should not only keep my job but be paid because they can’t infringe upon my religious rights?  And then should I be able to stone people to death for working on the Sabbath?  Because we all know that in Numbers 15:32-56 it does say that Moses was told by god to stone a man to death for gathering sticks on the Sabbath.  Hey, it’s my right under the bible and the state can’t stand in the way of my religious rights!

We have to set precedence or there is no stopping the things that one can do under the guise of bible worship.  I can stone my son to death for being insolent as it gives me full right to do in Deuteronomy 21:18-21.  This crap is going way too far and it is infringing on the rights of other humans to live their lives as the constitution said We hold these truths to be self–evident, That all men are created equal, That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, That among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.– That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, Deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

It clearly says that the government and I would assume the workers there in, derive their powers from the consent of the governed NOT from the bible, god nor Christian churches or any other churches.  So it is about time to knock some sense into these people.  Kick her butt out of that position and place someone there that understands that the power they possess are given by the people who consist of gays, blacks, Asians, whites, Muslims, Hispanics and every other race, religion or creed.  Come on people get over your petty discrimination already!  And that means you Rose Marie Belforti!

Never Underestimate The Stupidity Of Idiots

After reading one of my comments I of course felt a post coming on.  This person I am about to respond to is just like all the others that made the very reason why I went on hiatus.  Too much stupidity in one place is a dangerous thing.  So, let’s just jump right in and get this party started, shall we?

My new friend Stephen Conklin asks: “First of all, what do black people not have in this country that white people do? You are showing your racism right there.”

Really, I am showing my racism by pointing out that there is disparity between races?  This is a real question?  Well I guess some people really are clueless.  OK Stephen I’ll bite.  How about we just list it out with reference so that you will be happy to have it backed up.  But then you can’t really complain.

  •  Wealth – The median wealth of white households is 20 times that of black households according to a Pew Research Center analysis of newly available government data from 2009. (Boy, what is it now after this recession?  Do you think it grew or shrank?)

I guess you really can’t argue with that one unless you are going to tell me that black people just don’t want wealth, so they go about trying to ensure they have none.  Or there is a real system of inequality in this country.  Hmmm?

  • Jobs – Blacks are unemployed right now at a rate of twice that of whites.  Black unemployment surged to 16.7% in August, its highest level since 1984, while the unemployment rate for whites fell slightly to 8%, the Labor Department reported.  Black unemployment has been roughly double that of whites since the government started tracking the figures in 1972

And I guess you are going to say that black people just don’t want to work.  But somehow they want to complain about unemployment for blacks.  Hmm, doesn’t make sense, because if we didn’t want to work, we would all be happy about the numbers of unemployed blacks versus whites and then ask why more aren’t unemployed.  Or can we look at the study by Devah Pager which showed that black men with NO criminal record and a 4 year college degree got far less job offers than white men with a felony record.  Stephen, how do we explain this?  Is it *GASP* disparity?  Is it something that white men have – the fallacy that they are somehow better than black men, even when they have a criminal record?  OH MY, what exactly could this study be showing us?  Who knows right?

But people such as you will deny that this has anything to do with racism, it is just a side effect of something else.  Why don’t you enlighten us as to why black unemployment is always double white unemployment?  Because if blacks have everything whites have and every opportunity whites have then we should have similar unemployment rates.  So what is the problem here?  Lazy blacks, illegal immigrants taking black jobs or maybe it is just another example of how blacks are the last hired and the first fired as most blacks in the workforce already know.

  • Home ownership – Home ownership rates for African Americans is 48% (compared to 75% for Whites) according to newly released U.S. Census data from 2009. (Boy, I wonder what those rates are since this recession. Stephen, they sure as hell didn’t get better after 2009, you think?)

Now why is this?  It can’t be that blacks just decided, “Hey, we don’t want houses or a way to build wealth for our families.”  In fact we don’t want houses or jobs.  That’s it right Stephen?  Or maybe the redlining, racist lending practices and last hired, first fired is making a showing in the housing market as well.  But of course this doesn’t mean that white people have something black people don’t have.  This just means that blacks don’t have stuff white people DO have.  LOL.

  • Education –  According to The Maynard Institute more than 25 years after Brown v. Board of Education integrated the public schools, schools remain segregated. Studies establish that segregation perpetuates racial inequality. Teachers assigned to minority schools are more likely to be inexperienced or teaching outside their fields of expertise. Schools serving minority communities receive less financing and fewer schools are constructed in minority communities. Black and brown children are disciplined more harshly and frequently for the same offenses as white children.
But of course this is because black children don’t want to learn right?  Everything showing disparity between the races proving that whites DO have things blacks don’t, can always be summed up as just a byproduct of blacks lack of desire for these things.  Not that the American system is inherently set up to create these disparities.  You see Stephen after slavery was abolished, Jim Crow reared its ugly head, then after Jim Crow we now have a supposed underground system even if highly blatant disparity that people like you pretend not to see.  Even though it is glaring in your face like the pretty lights blinking on any of the casinos littering the strip in Las Vegas.
But, please don’t let me open your eyes.  Just continue to sleep and pretend that its all equal and all black people have to do is pull themselves up by these non existent boot straps and just have what whites have.  Because we black people never contemplated doing that at all.  In fact we just never thought of just having these things.  Hey, I am going to go and tell all the blacks, “Just have exactly what whites have!”  Now, we can just do it.  Thanks Stephen, you really showed me and the rest of black America that it was in our hands the whole time and all we had to do was do it.  That college degree holding black man can now say, I’ll get that job no matter what felony wielding white man comes in for the position too.  I will just TAKE that job.  Thanks, Stephen you opened up all of our eyes!

But back to the REAL world, WHY is it that I have to consistently implore you to do a little research before coming to my blog and talking crap?  Second time you haven’t listened and again the second time you look like an idiot.  And yes, I called you a name.  It is how we label someone when they are behaving in a manner that calls for their behavior to be explained to many people.

If you feel that my calling you what you come here and showing me you must be, then by all means don’t come here.  I didn’t come to you and call you a name, you came here and acted in a fashion that warranted a name.  If it talks like a moron, writes like a moron and thinks like a moron, then the chances are overwhelming that it IS a moron.  Sorry.

Good luck next time.  But, again, do some research before bringing your tripe.  I don’t like stupidity for the sake of stupidity.  Oh, and I will answer the rest of your tripe in due time.

Why Buy Black?

I have been seeing a lot of posts being written about the buy black experiment.  Basically there is a group of blacks who are deciding that they are going to do the majority of their purchases from black people in their black communities.  Now the problem people seem to be having with this is that they feel it is discriminatory.  People feel that by deciding to support blacks in their own communities they are hurting others.

Now the problem I have with these people and their thinking is that no one ever complains about other races of people who do the majority of their shopping in their own community.  Somehow it only becomes problematic when black people decide that they will support people from their own community.  Why is that?  Why is it that black people are always expected to give the majority of their business to white owned or other?

When are these bloggers going to write a post declaring China towns across the nation as a cradle of racism?  Now California is full of Spanish communities where Hispanics shop and buy close to exclusively.  No one feels that this is discriminatory because somehow we all feel that they are a close knit community just like the many Korea towns, Italian areas etc.  No one cares that any of these people by deciding to buy from their own communities are helping to strengthening their communities.

I don’t see very many white people going out of their way to drive their butts into the black community and patronizing the black owned businesses there. But, I suppose they feel it is only reasonable for blacks to leave their neighborhoods in order to make sure they patronize a rainbow coalition of businesses.

Are these white people who are claiming this is racist bringing their children to black owned daycares?  Do the majority of white people call the black run insurance person, car dealer, real estate agent or any other black businesses?  How many of them decide that it is important to them to spend their money with a rainbow coalition of businesses?   And I don’t think that going to the neighborhood Chinese, Japanese or Korean restaurant counts.

We all know that they don’t.  If they did, then black businesses wouldn’t be going under, they would be doing a lot better and there wouldn’t be a need to push this buy black agenda.  It never fails that people will turn this into some sort of finger pointing adventure.  Not even giving one thought to how they themselves contribute to the need for black businesses to be supported by black people.

When we complain that blacks are being passed over for employment within white owned businesses, we hear that blacks should get their own businesses.  As soon as a black person decide OK, they WILL patronize businesses in their own neighborhood all of a sudden they are racist.  Blacks are damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

And I have yet to see ONE white person cross that divide and do their business with the black businesses in the “black area”.   Did they decide they would only buy white?  Or are they doing what white people have done the last decades blacks have been able to own businesses, continue to shop white.

Black businesses are disappearing left and right.  But according to these bloggers that is fine as long as black people don’t decide to make it a priority to buy from those in their neighborhoods.  We can go down the list of communities who patronize those of their neighborhoods.  We are already being chastised for living in black neighborhoods, now we are being chastised for wanting to spend our money in black neighborhoods.

Fighting Racism By Ignoring It

It is really unfortunate that this type of blog continues to perpetuate racism in our country. You are not doing anything to try to unite the “races”, but you are continuing to divide this country into different classes and types of people. There is no such thing as race. We ALL came from the same two people and the only difference between us all is the cultures and locations we ended up in. But our blood, and our bodies all came from one place. It is my prayer that rather than continue to let people dwell on how sorry they feel for themselves or each other, that these same people would instead rise above this nonsense and fight their way to where they can be. It is much like being a teacher: if you only raise the bar so high, that is the only level your students will achieve, but if you raise the bar higher than you expect the students to reach, they will achieve so much more.

You know that this type of comment gets posted all too often. I usually don’t pay it any attention because it is usually a waste of time. But, for some reason I am just into wasting my time today. I know that we all would love if things were different and that racism was a thing that only happened in the past. Yet, like I have said a hundred times pointing out the racism and disparity does NOT make me or anyone else the racist. That is just the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

So here we go Mommyof1. Sure, there is no such thing as races only different cultures. I guess the continued subjugation of “cultures” other than European culture or white culture is just a fluke. Or how about the disparity between “cultures”, is that a fluke as well? We can call it whatever you like, race, culture even bananas the end result is that racism, culturism, bananaism or whatever, is real and exists. We will never have unity between the races as long as ostriches such as Mommyof1 continue to bury their heads in the sand trying their damned best to pretend that the disparity doesn’t exist.

And I don’t know what race Mommyof1 is or what she thinks she knows about race but it is ignorant for anyone to just tell students that they need to rise above the so called nonsense if the nonsensical people are standing between them and equality. Don’t they need to deal with the nonsense that presents itself to them on a daily basis? Or are you telling me that ignoring the nonsense, racism, culturism or bananism is going to somehow make it all go away? Because I believe that people are ignoring it day in and day out and it hasn’t stopped.

All kids have to do is fight to reach the level where they want to be, really? The problem with that statement is the fact that schools and teachers in the black area (oops) I mean in the black culture’s areas are ramshackle, run down and completely lacking in everyway possible when compared to the white race or cultures. I guess the black culture kids will just have to fight harder and longer just to get close to the education that the white culture kids get without any struggle at all.

This is disparity Mommyof1 and it isn’t fair. If everyone had to fight for the same prize on a level playing field that would be one thing. But the playing field for these kids looks more like Devils tower in Wyoming. The majority of white culture kids are standing on the nice plateau while the black kids and those whites unlucky enough to be poor are left scaling the cliffs. And the sad thing is only a few will be able to make it to the top not from a lack of trying but there are other obstacles that a lot won’t be able to pass. But Mommyof1 seems to think that everyone can make it if they want it bad enough. It is just like Brotherpeacemaker said, even if every slave on the plantation dressed up in a tuxedo or her fanciest dress, they can’t all be in the master’s big house working. Some one will have to work the fields.

So Mommyof1 may wish to pretend that it is only a matter of hard work but, we have seen the hard working people such as Evon Reid or better yet “Ghetto Dude” who got his masters degree and was still referred to with some stereotypical bullshit because of his race. Now I guess he didn’t make it to his goal because he didn’t fight hard enough to ignore the racism, culturism or bananaism that was being hurled his way while he fought to get where he wanted. How about Oscar Grant who was a hard working father and husband who was fighting to make it for his family before BART police decided to execute him in the subway station? I guess because he didn’t fight at all begging for his life while lying on the ground handcuffed behind his back while the cops pulled the trigger ending his fight.

There are so many more of these people than I have time to list. Yet, somehow Mommyof1 wishes for me to stop talking about it. Stop looking at the blatant systemic racism, the disparity that permeates the very air we breathe. Maybe one more will sink it in for her. How about the sewage sludge solids that the United States Agriculture Department Johns Hopkins University to see whether it reduced high lead levels in the soil, a result of paint chipping off houses. I guess those people didn’t fight hard enough to be able to afford to live in a white culture neighborhood where this wasn’t happening. Or maybe they didn’t fight hard enough to not be victimized by a government agency and hospital who are both supposed to be charged with protecting people, not poisoning them.

So Mommyof1 sometimes pointing out the problem opens some eyes and minds. But all too often you are exactly what I am up against which is an ostrich with its head in the ground trying to tell others how to fight racism by merely denying race or changing its title and ignoring it.

A Nation Of Cowards Walking On Eggshells

This is just some quick thoughts on what Pat Buchanan was saying to Michael Eric Dyson on Hardball about Attorney General Eric Holder calling America a nation of cowards. I for one will put this right out there, I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

Eric Holder was not saying that we are cowards overall. He was saying that we strive to conquer almost everything making it a competition of sorts. But, when it comes to race we are less than competitive at eradicating it. And I don’t think that is too much to debate. The only time I can think of when America has decided that these things take time and should be done slowly is with race and poverty. And even poverty seems to be higher on the list and I don’t need to spell that out.

So Pat Buchanan says that black people segregate themselves with things such as the black caucus, black Miss America and the black Negro college fund. Then turns right around and start talking about how the white man is not responsible for out of wedlock birth rates for blacks or the crime rate of blacks. Now if I am not mistaking when he decides to separate blacks out from America to point out this crap he himself has just segregated us.

Shouldn’t all these statistics be combined as American statistics or does it serves some purpose to separate them by race. Did black people decide that they were going to segregate themselves into these statistical columns? Somehow we should stop calling things black this or that but, the alternative is to see all white college funds, Miss America (whiteness implied) or political affiliations. And somehow that isn’t a problem as long as it isn’t “called” white.

This is the joke that is being passed off for diversity. Even if something is predominantly white or just outright all white as long is isn’t “called” white then it isn’t offensive. I have written posts about this before. People want to point the finger at all these so called black things not ever paying attention to the plethora of things that are for white people as if they don’t exist.

Pat Buchanan starts his conversations off that if “white men” want to talk honestly about race they will get a big backlash. But if what you are saying is racist bullshit then of course you should hear a backlash from it. When you say things like blacks owe white people gratitude for bringing them here to America as slaves because now they are American Christians. As if that somehow negates all the bad things they have been going through since day one.

The problem is that the dialog on race is usually tainted and loaded. We can’t discuss how there is a large disparity between the races without hearing about how criminal and immoral blacks are. You hear how tired white’s are of hearing it. You hear how blacks should just come up with a plan and then boom we can fix it all. None of these things is conducive to repairing any of the damage.

And yes, I already know that a lot of white people will say that harping on an issue such as racism is not conducive to them either. But, think about this, if we fixed the freaking problem people would stop harping about it. And no we have NOT fixed the problem. We just put a band aid on the problem and decided that black people should now shut up about it. And until we can stop being such cowards in this country hiding from racial equality and actually tackle the problem without segueing into idiocy, we will continue to be forced to walk on eggshells on both sides.

The Teachings Of Dr. King

It seems that all the new posts today about Martin Luther King Jr. everyone is mentioning things such as he had a dream and what that dream was, that he preached non violence and that peaceful protest was the way to get the job done. But did any of these people know that he also said that “I”ve come to the realization that I think we may be integrating into a burning house.” MLK had more to say about race relations than turn the other cheek or black and white children holding hands in the future. Yet you never hear the topics of those sermons or discussions as people try to paint this one sided picture of that great man.

How about this passage “Despite new laws, little has changed…The Negro is still the poorest American — walled in by color and poverty. The law pronounces him equal — abstractly — but his conditions of life are still far from equal.” — “Negroes Are Not Moving Too Fast”, 1964 (p. 176-177).” Who will dare say that these words which are being said by many blacks today are words of a defeatist? Every time someone dares to say that blacks are still on the bottom in spite of laws claiming we are equal people automatically point their self righteous finger, whites and blacks, saying that these are the words of a victim mentality.

Something positive must be done… In 1863 the Negro was told that he was free as a result of the Emancipation Proclamation. But he was not given any land to make that freedom meaningful. And the irony of it all is that at the same time the nation failed to do anything for the black man — through an act of Congress it was giving away millions of acres of land in the West and Midwest — which meant that it was willing to undergird its white peasants from Europe with an economic floor…Not only that, it provided agents to further their expertise in farming. Not only that, as the years unfolded it provided low interest rates so that they could mechanize their farms. And to this day thousands of these very persons are receiving millions of dollars in federal subsidies every year not to farm.”

And these are so often the very people who tell Negroes that they must lift themselves by their own bootstraps...”

We must come to see that the roots of racism are very deep in our country, and there must be something positive and massive in order to get rid of all the effects of racism and the tragedies of racial injustice.” — “Remaining Awake,” 1968 (271).”

Even Dr. King was disgusted with white people having the nerve to tell blacks to pull themselves up by their bootstraps all the while they are getting government and other types of handouts. The same type of handouts that they cry we are the sole beneficiaries of. And yet today you people such as Pat Buchanan who says that blacks have received all this reparation through programs such as welfare and food stamps when we know that whites are the majority beneficiary of all government programs even affirmative action is dominated by white women according to government census.

White Americans must recognize that justice for black people cannot be achieved without radical changes in the structure of our society. The comfortable, entrenched, the privileged cannot continue to tremble at the prospect of change of the status quo…This is a multi-racial nation where all groups are dependent on each other…There is no separate white path to power and fulfillment, short of social disaster, that does not share power with black aspirations for freedom and human dignity.” — Where Do We go From Here, 1967 (588-)

“The problem of race remains America’s greatest moral dilemma. When one considers the impact it has upon the nation, its resolution might well determine our destiny. ..The price that America must pay for the continued oppression of the Negro is the price of its own destruction.” — “Ethical Demands of Integration,” 1963 (p.117).

He talked about it then we are still talking about it today, White Privilege and the status quo which needs to be ended. Yet, let people today tell you, white privilege is a myth and there is no such thing as the status quo; those are the ramblings of a black racist who would like to see blacks in control. At least this is what I hear in comments that I receive.

Funny that he talks about the price that AMERICA must pay for its continued oppression of the black community. And to this day that oppression continues through the white privilege and status quo that he was talking about years ago. The only thing that people now have to offer up from Dr. King is fluffy words of love and acceptance. Yet these words of substance and confrontation are left to the wayside unless we all actually open our eyes to the impact that he and those of us who have our eyes open see that this blatant racist activity has on our society, destiny and lives.

Profiling Child Sex Trade Perpetrators

Sexual predators from America are traveling to South East Asia to take part in a sex trade. The problem with this sex trade is that the prostitutes are young boys and girls some as young as five. I was watching as MSNBC did an undercover show on this subject. And I am going to give my take on the whole mess.

We start off seeing a dusty village in Cambodia as a teenage boy greets the hidden camera man and offers him sex with young girls. We are then introduced to a doctor named Jerry Albom from Oklahoma who says that he frequents Cambodia at least once or twice a year. He is one of the guys who go there to meet these underage girls. He actually tells the camera man that he should tell people that he is going to another part of SE Asia as the people might suspect that he is going to Cambodia for the young girls. He brags that he has had two, three, four and sometimes five girls at a time in his hotel room to pleasure him. He says that he likes them in their early teens fifteen or sixteen but sometimes girls’ young as fourteen sneak in, and oh well as he put it.

Now if this were a black doctor people would undoubtedly be saying that this is indicative of the black race to have something like this going on. Just look at how dog fighting is now a black cultural thing and linked to rapping. All because one high profile black man is convicted of dog fighting. It does not matter that dog fighting originated in Europe or that they even interviewed white people who admit to dog fighting and say they will continue. Yet it in no way diminishes or tarnishes the white race.

So we know that if this doctor were a black man not only would he be arrested and held to the fullest extent of the law, the whole black race would now be subject to suspicion and scrutiny from white America. In fact they had a hidden camera in one of the clubs frequented by western patrons and the underage girls they intended to meet. They were ALL white men. Should I now think that somehow the actions of those white men are indicative of all white men? Somehow this just proves the deviant sexual behavior that white men possess and we should now profile them since it will keep our children safe. It sounds silly yet this is exactly the attitude we show with black people.

If a few black males are walking in a group, watch out it is probably a gang of thugs. A black lady is at the store with children, she is probably a single mother on welfare and looking to steal. These are some of the stereotypes that blacks have to deal with because one person fits the stereotype we all do as well. Yet whites get to forego the stereotypical bull and get judged by individual merit. Constantly I am being barraged with people saying on my Blog that people should be judged as individuals, which is all fine and dandy.

Yet these people these are the biggest perpetrators who will then turn around and say that “blacks should just get an education, and start speaking correct English.” Maybe I should start stereotyping whites; it wouldn’t be hard, since according to the numbers from the government they are committing the most crimes anyway. I could start grabbing my children when I see white men the way white women grab their purses in the presence of a black man. Since we now understand that they are pedophiles.

Speaking of which I could also ask the school to put a video camera in the room of my son’s teacher if she is white, since she is probably going to try and rape him. Better yet, she should just be fired as I don’t feel comfortable I mean with all the white female teachers raping young boys. Just like the black kids look like a gang of thugs, I should be afraid that groups of white kids are going to hang a noose in my tree. Or call my son over a prank on myspace and threaten to come lynch us. I will also beware of white teenaged boys in malls, churches and schools as they seem to have a propensity for shooting up those types of places.

I lived in a large apartment complex once and a lady in the gym was explaining that the office had been wrecked or robbed by some kids. We were all working out at the gym and were discussing the issues of the complex. She then blurted out a stupid question “do you know them?” Now why would we know them, because it was a crime committed and they must be black? How about “did she know them?” Yet, of course not as she wouldn’t know any criminals, why should she.

I don’t know how many times I have had a white person say something such as, “oh my dry cleaner is black, do you know him?” As we sit in a city of thousands of people. I am supposed to know every black person in town. That is when I say “oh, my mail carrier is white, do you know him?” They get such a puzzled look, as if to say why would I know them? Yet they expected me to know this one black whose name they didn’t even know out of thousands. I think that we should play the tit for tat game, if you want to be racially insensitive to someone, they should be just as insensitive back. Maybe that will get people’s attention.

I could surely go on and on with this whole exercise in propaganda, yet it will undoubtedly fly right over the head of those who need to understand it. As they will not see how profiling whites would be helpful but would totally see how profiling those criminal blacks IS. The hypocrisy regarding racial stereotyping runs so deep and has been so ingrained for so long that races that are constantly being stereotyped have taken to internalizing it and becoming some of the biggest perpetrators. As people start to realize that these things can both ways, maybe they will stop all together and we all can be judged by our own actions and not have to be the spokesman of our race.

Is The Riot A Black Characteristic

After reading a few Blogs this morning one struck me with talk of rioting and if Barack Obama doesn’t win blacks will undoubtedly start rioting in the streets. Now I personally don’t feel that this is anywhere near correct. Also, there have been fingers pointed at the Kenyan riots as showing rioting just may be a characteristic related only to blacks. Blacks albeit will lash out when the stress of life’s circumstances are too much to bear and things explode like a powder keg in a Bar B Q pit. The talk of blacks and our supposedly rioting as some sort of black trait or some kind of example of the lawless nature of blacks then we must look at the act of rioting as it applies to whites.

As riots go white riots have been around since they came to America. Black riots got a running start in the 60’s and have been on the radar ever since. As I did some research on riots it seems that white people in race related riots destroy the property of blacks etc. Yet, the majority of white riots destroy their own things since they usually happen around schools or major sports events. Blacks started off destroying the white owned businesses but then degraded into destroying their own homes, stores and general community. This is a direct result of having the police come down far harder on blacks than whites during a given riot. Since the black community felt so helpless and forgotten that when rioting breaks out the looting begins.

While doing a bit of research on riots and those that have been white or predominantly so I have come across a lot of riots where the idea of the riot was just to terrorize blacks and destroy what little they had. The riots were always after the gossip of some black man or men after their white woman whether it is for rape or just any type of relationship. The next reason was the fact that blacks had a nerve to actually get jobs to support their families. For people to make statements that rioting shows that blacks can’t control their angry violent nature and are prone to mass violent outbursts is totally irresponsible and an outright lie. Following is stories of a few violent white riots followed by a list of others, as H. Rap Brown said, violence is as American as apple pie.

The Springfield Race Riot of 1908 was a mass civil disturbance in Springfield, Illinois, USA sparked by the transfer of two African American prisoners out of the city jail by the county sheriff. This act enraged many white citizens, who responded by burning black-owned homes and businesses and killing black citizens. By the end of the riot, there were at least seven deaths and US$200,000 in property damage. The riot led to the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization.

The Atlanta Race Riot of 1906 was a mass civil disturbance in Atlanta, Georgia, USA which began the evening of September 22nd and lasted until September 25th. At least 27 people died and over seventy were injured. Atlanta newspapers reported that black men were assaulting white women. The charges were not true, but the reports set off the Atlanta race riot of 1906. The official death count was 12 black and two white, but it has been claimed the real death toll was much higher as Atlanta authorities did not want to further damage the reputation of the city. The riot was reported in newspapers around the world but has not been taught in schools in the United States, and those who died have not been officially commemorated.

East St. Louis, in 1917, the United States had a strong economy boosted by World War I. Because many workers were being recruited for the war, firms also had jobs for African Americans, who began to migrate in great number from the South to St. Louis, among other northern and midwestern cities. Three thousand white men gathered downtown, and started to attack African Americans. They destroyed buildings and beat people. On July 1, a black teen that shot his attackers was fired on by a white mob. The boy then shot and killed two cops.

The next morning, thousands of white spectators who saw the bloodstained automobile marched to the black section of town and started rioting. After cutting the hoses of the fire department, the rioters burned entire sections of the city and shot inhabitants as they escaped the flames. Claiming that “Southern niggers deserve a genuine lynching,” they lynched several blacks. Guardsmen were called in, but several accounts reported that they joined in the rioting rather than stopping it. Others joined in, including allegedly “ten or fifteen young girls about 18 years old, who chased a black woman at the Relay Depot at about 5 o’clock. The girls were brandishing clubs and calling upon the men to kill the woman.” The renowned journalist Ida B. Wells reported in The Chicago Defender that 150 black people were killed during July in the rioting in East St. Louis.

Red Summer which included riots against blacks: 1919 – Charleston Race Riot, May 10, Charleston, South Carolina, – Washington, D.C. Race Riot, July 19, Washington, D.C., – Chicago Race Riot, July 27 – Aug. 2, Chicago, Illinois, – Knoxville Race riot, Aug. 30, Knoxville, Tennessee, Longview Race Riot, Longview, Texas, Omaha Race Riot, Sept. 28, Omaha, Nebraska, Elaine Race Riot, Oct. 1, Elaine, Arkansas. Was called the red summer for all the blood of blacks that was spilled during this massive onslaught of race motivated riots that happened to take place in 1919 over one summer.

The Tulsa Race Riot, also known as the 1921 Race Riot, The Night That Tulsa Died, the Tulsa Race War, or the Greenwood Riot, was a large-scale civil disorder confined mainly to the racially segregated Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA in 1921. During the 16 hours of rioting, over 800 people were admitted to local hospitals with injuries, an estimated 10,000 were left homeless, 35 city blocks composed of 1,256 residences were destroyed by fire, and $1.8 million (nearly $17 million after adjustment for inflation) in property damage. Officially, thirty-nine people were reported killed in the riot, of which 10 were white.

The actual number of black citizens killed as a result of the riot was estimated in the Red Cross report at around 300; making the Tulsa Race Riot the worst in US history. Other estimates range as high as 3,000, based on the number of grave diggers and other circumstances, although the archaeological and forensic work needed to confirm the number of dead has not been performed.

Rosewood was a small community of 25 to 30 mostly black families in Levy County in central Florida, USA. Today, it is best known for the racially driven attack on African Americans by whites in January 1923, known as the Rosewood massacre. The town was abandoned during the massacre. It had been a “whistle stop” on the Seaboard Air Line Railway, located on the north side of State Road 24 half a mile east of the intersection with Levy County Road 345.

Just Be Thankful You’re American

I recently did a post on sex slaves in America and inside I talked about a bunch of Ukrainian women who were brought here under the assumption they would be getting jobs except those jobs were as prostitutes. Now they are free, tens of thousands of dollars richer and American citizens. They actually spoke to congress about the sex slave industry and cried their collective eyes out at the humiliation, torment and degradation they suffered at the hands of their captors. Now New Jersey lawmakers would like to offer an apology for the enslavement of the Africans.

An apology is a good start to trying to acknowledge a wrong that was never corrected. Republican Assemblymen such as Richard Merkt and Michael Patrick Carroll had problems with this. They feel that it would be meaningless. Assemblyman Richard Merkt wanted to know, “Who living today is guilty of slave holding and thus capable of apologizing for the offense?” Also, “And who living today is a former slave and thus capable of accepting the apology? So how is a real apology even remotely possible, much less meaningful, given the long absence of both oppressor and victim?”

“But, on a current note, if slavery was the price that a modern American’s ancestors had to pay in order to make one an American, one should get down on one’s knees every single day and thank the Lord that such price was paid,” Carroll said. Carroll said while his ancestors came from Ireland around the 1850s, fleeing a potato famine he said was worsened by British indifference; he bore the British no ill will. Now back to our Ukrainian ladies. From what Assemblyman Carroll is saying these ladies should be on their collective knees daily and this time to thank the modern day slave catchers for helping to make them citizens of America. Not only the ladies but their children, children’s children should all be on their knees giving thanks that the sex slave catchers got their mothers and grandmothers and making them free Americans.

Now that sounds pretty sickening if you ask me, that we have people that are so callous as to think that someone should be thankful that their family has been enslaved and subjugated. They should be thankful for the passing on of not only an American citizenship but a legacy of subjugation, discrimination and bias. Mr. Carroll would NEVER make that statement to these ladies let alone any white person who suffered from some devastating event that caused them to be in America. Would he say that to the Jews who suffered through the holocaust? Hey they had to suffer immensely, losing family members and their freedom yet they should be thanking the Nazi’s each and every day down on their knees no doubt for the chance to be an American citizen.

If a drunk driver swerves his car into a car carrying Mr. Carroll’s children and they all get killed including the drunk driver would he feel it to be meaningless for the drunk driver’s family to offer his family some sort of apology for the disaster? I mean the drunk driver is dead so can’t apologize; his kids are dead so they can’t accept it so to him it is a waste of time. Yet on a daily basis in some court here in America you have murderer after murderer who is apologizing for the murder of somebody or another. Then there are the people who are accepting of the apology, not the person however because they are no longer here. But, the apology still helps those left behind to begin healing from whatever mental anguish they have been and are suffering.

The extreme condescension of comparing slavery of ones ancestors to a famine is indescribable. People constantly want to make comparisons with regards to slavery. It is just another way of diminishing the act or trying to lessen its blow. It is like comparing starvation which lasts months until one dies to going without lunch for one day. How about I compare his family’s potato famine with the cold that I had last year which was pretty bad and I felt terrible for a week. I am sure he and certainly his ancestors would say that it was no comparison.

Now slavery was a LONG time ago I will grant you. But looking at the big picture what has been done to take the sting of it away from the minds of those that are here now. What has anyone done to make amends for this travesty of justice? What exactly did we get for our families suffering through slavery? We received the bonuses of lynching, Jim Crow, discrimination, racism, white privilege, deep resentment, out right hatred and ambivalence. Yet I am supposed to be thankful to have this legacy. Maybe we as blacks are thankful to be in the United States but the problem is that not only our ancestors had to pay a price; we are still paying a price with racism, injustice, discrimination and hypocrisy at every turn. So why don’t we start with a simple apology then move on to some real corrections and end white privilege, racism and try to make life fair to ALL races.

Does Affirmative Action Hurt

As I receive a plethora of comments for my posts about Ron Paul I have noticed a theme to the ones that talk about affirmative action. Somehow people are equating affirmative action with some sort of hand out or some sort of mandated free job system for all these unqualified opportunistic blacks who don’t deserve to have them. Now I personally equate these comments to racist mindsets. I feel this is due to the fact that if they didn’t already feel that blacks were unworthy of the jobs that they do receive.

Now what exactly makes these people think that the blacks are getting jobs that they aren’t qualified for? I have never nor has anyone I know ever been able to fall into a job that they were not qualified for. This is just more racist thinking that many have and refuse to acknowledge as such. I have repeatedly asked these people to explain why these blacks are unqualified or how and where these jobs were gotten.

With the thinking that no blacks are ever qualified this is contrary to the truth. Blacks getting jobs usually have to be twice as qualified as the next person in order to get the jobs they are going for, affirmative action or not. Just like one commenter said, blacks have to work twice as hard to prove to whites that they are worthy. I have to laugh that people are so quick to judge all blacks as unqualified even though they don’t know the qualifications of just a hand full of any particular blacks.

So from what they are saying, blacks just want a handout, that we should be shamed to be given something for nothing. When did trying to get a job become wanting a handout? Is it a handout when white people are applying for a job, of course not because it is accepted that they would be qualified for any job they apply for. Yet they turn right around and tell me of the racist nature of affirmative action.

When has anyone ever talked about the affirmative action that whites receive? All the while blacks were kept from the workforce due to Jim Crow and other racist programs aimed at preserving white domination in the workforce. Why are they not complaining about all the white women who are benefiting even more from affirmative action than any black person?

We have been led to believe that all the while whites have benefited from their own brand of affirmative action it is somehow now a problem when there is a program aimed at someone other than white males. We as blacks should somehow be ashamed that someone was trying to come up with something, anything that would even the playing field between white males and minorities even though it is woefully inadequate.

I understand that people feel that this is nothing more than a handout that disenfranchises white males. Because we all know that white males have such a hard time finding jobs in this white male dominated marketplace. By all accounts if affirmative action is this big job handout program there really shouldn’t be any unemployed black who have applied for more than one job. Since if the jobs are being handed out the first one they applied for would be theirs no questions asked. Yet we know full well that blacks or over represented on the unemployment lines.

Should we believe this is due to the fact that blacks somehow don’t want jobs? Even these free handout jobs that they don’t even have to be qualified for. I suppose that I should just clear the air and let people know that the Eddie Murphy movie Trading Places was a joke. Black homeless people really aren’t being snatched off the streets and thrown into the lap of luxury running a stock brokerage firm. Yet this is what comes to mind when some people talk about how blacks are receiving these handouts in the form of employment. Or the fact that they are saying that blacks are not qualified yet they got the job at the expense of a more qualified white man.

Affirmative action is a catchall phrase referring to laws, customs, and social policies intended to alleviate the types of discrimination that limit opportunities for a variety of demographic groups in various social institutions. And for us to believe that these laws, customs and social policies are hurting people you would have to first believe that the playing field for all people is an even one. Yet if you believe that then you would need to explain a whole slew of other problems facing our society. Such as blacks only earn 78% of what whites earn, blacks are still under represented in all facets of corporate America and black unemployment is more than double that of white unemployment.

These discrepancies between blacks and whites are just the tip of the iceberg. There are tons of other “documented” differences that can’t be explained away with blacks just don’t want to do better etc. A person named Ana who replied to my Blog once said “what group? white people are not a ‘group’ that has some special, common interest. white people are individuals whose foremost concerns is their own good and the good of their families and friends – not the good of other white people.

This is exactly my point if every white person is doing what Ana said, whites are looking out for the concerns of their friends and families who happen to be white like them. This is the epitome of the white privilege or white affirmative action of which I speak. And for Ana to say this is showing her protection of the white group and how they do come together to protect the group Yet a black person having affirmative action which is a suggestion of sorts that if they are most qualified for a position they will not be passed over merely for the color of their skin. But the facts show that this so called suggestion has no real teeth. Blacks are constantly passed over and this is due to the ingrained thinking that most whites have that blacks are unqualified, unworthy and thus undeserving of whatever employment they are seeking.
