Why Blacks Support The Trayvon Martin Case?

What is it about the Trayvon Martin case that a lot of people just don’t get?  I was reading a news story about an old white man who was beaten by a group of 6 black boys after saying to them…Remember Trayvon Martin.  And the 6 black youths were arrested and are now in jail awaiting trial.

But, yet people continuously want to point out Al Sharpton’s involvement with the Tawana Brawley fiasco or the Duke LaCrosse case.  As if these two incidents are the quintessential equivalents of the Trayvon Martin case.  Or somehow because a black person made false claims in these two cases, the case against Zimmerman is either false or somehow irrelevant.

And people are also making other comments about the 6 black youths vs. white man such as “if this were the other way around, it would be seen as a hate crime”  or “Were is the FBI? Jesse? Sharpton? and every one else? Rally to take place at the Toledo Police station Monday april 9th at noon to demand justice in this case please be there. Please email me at mikeXXXX@yahoo.com if you plan to attend!”

OK.  Who reading this is wondering to themselves at this very moment “what lack of justice are they speaking of that needs to be had in this case?”  What exactly is it that is causing a problem for Mike shown above who is looking to go to a rally for justice in a case?  It can’t be the fact that the alleged perpetrators are in jail, it can’t be that the wheels of justice are turning and quite quickly I might add.  So is the only thing that would spell justice for Mike, would be for black people to rally around this white man and denounce the actions of the 6 black youths?  Something he obviously has yet to do for Trayvon.

OK, Mike, for what it is worth…I think that it was horrible for those black kids to beat up this white man for whatever reasons they have.  I hope that when all the evidence is revealed that it doesn’t show that they felt threatened when the man said to them to remember Trayvon Martin.  Which he claimed was his way to, as he said; to show them we are all on the same side.

Because, unfortunately, if some white man said that to me, I would be fearful he was planning to make ME the next Trayvon Martin.  And I would interpret him to mean DEAD.  And thus might feel the need to protect myself from this could/would be Zimmerman knockoff.  So, I guess that could be an excuse for them.  Maybe, but we see there is no lack of excuses for Zimmerman as well.

I guess he (Mike) wants to see hate crime charges brought.  That is fine “if” that is what he wants.  But, at least he has solace in seeing the wheels of justice moving, the alleged perpetrators in jail and an actual investigation being done.  And all this being done WITHOUT the victim’s family going to extreme measures of rallying a public outrage to get the same justice.  Somehow this white victim just has the luxury of this justice automatically.

I would love for Mike there to show me the one case where a white person be it man, woman or child who was killed by a black man and that black man was allowed to go home WITH the murder weapon the same night as the killing, and no further questions asked by the police of that case.  And the case closed after 7 hours of investigation that did NOT include any forensic, DNA, witness statements nor any other form of evidence outside of the perpetrators lone statement?  I would LOVE for someone to dig that case up.

For anyone who is confused as to WHY black people are on board this case, it is because the crime was just set aside and no one wanted to look into it any further.  This man whether white or Hispanic or as he classified himself white Hispanic, man killed an innocent unarmed person without any investigation to corroborate his story was allowed to go free.  And the police had attempted to force the parents into accepting that the man killed their unarmed son in self-defense without a shred of evidence to back that statement up.

I don’t think that anyone would sit idly by and allow that to go unchallenged if that were their child or if this was some white kid walking in a predominantly black area and the black man were the alleged perpetrator.  That is why this is so raw for the black community.  This is NOT the first case of an unarmed black person shot dead at the hands of a person who did not get arrested, charged or eventually ruled innocent of any wrong doing.

And it is frankly unbelievable to me that anyone even needs to spell this out to them.  I can’t believe that it is so hard to fathom why black people are calling for justice.  Why is it so hard for some to identify with an obvious injustice no matter the race of the people?  If the people heard this travesty without hearing the race of the people would they have a hard time understanding the outrage then?

Is this a case of willful ignorance in order to justify a group mentality that has always deemed the black man a threat no matter what situation we see them in?  We have to keep black people under control no matter what the cost, situation or outcome of that situation.  A lot of white people thought Rodney King was in control even though he was surrounded by 7 police officers who were beating him with batons as he lie on the ground.  And a jury still believed that he could have stopped them at any moment.

A woman named Tarika Wilson was shot to death THROUGH her one year old baby and the cops who did it were deemed to have acted appropriated because of course this black woman holding a baby was still a threat to the police even though again unarmed.  How many times do we need to see this very crime perpetrated upon members of the black community while those from the predominant white community make statements that it was understandable based on the so called fact that the white/non-black person pulling the trigger was in fear of an unarmed black who supposedly had all the control.

We allow the dominant predominantly white community to cry that blacks are so scary it is understandable that they pull the trigger when facing a black person in any type situation even if the story sound as outlandish as Zimmerman’s tall tales.  When does the opposite occur in that blacks become so fearful of white people that we jump the gun in defense of ourselves against them?

Would this new reversal of fear be acceptable and we can then justify doing nothing at all or hearing about nothing being done and have so many members of society agree that it was justifiable to do nothing.  Would we ever then see the members of predominantly white society see a case where Zimmerman is black and Trayvon is white and then tell the outraged people to just have a look at whatever case is out there at the moment which shows a white person killing or harming a black person and ask them why they aren’t outraged over that as well; even when the cases are ridiculously different.

It won’t happen because somehow we are again under a group mentality that white people are NOT a monolith.  If one commits a crime, doesn’t mean I must fear them ALL.  Yet, blacks do not, and have never gotten that same consideration.  And in fact we deem blacks as negative actors even when the perpetrators are white.  We have so many Susan Smith’s, Bonnie Sweeten’s, Ashley Todd’s, Bethany Storro’s, Michael Daragjati’s, Mary Turcotte’s, Charles Stuart’s and Brian Wells’ out there to feed this very stereotype for the masses like crack addicts scurrying for the last rock of crack.

How do we stop this?  How do we back away from the precipice that we see ourselves on at this very moment?  We all need to take a step back and understand that it is beyond time to start seeing things through the eyes of our black citizens as we already do those of our predominantly white majority.

Is The Riot A Black Characteristic

riots.jpg

After reading a few Blogs this morning one struck me with talk of rioting and if Barack Obama doesn’t win blacks will undoubtedly start rioting in the streets. Now I personally don’t feel that this is anywhere near correct. Also, there have been fingers pointed at the Kenyan riots as showing rioting just may be a characteristic related only to blacks. Blacks albeit will lash out when the stress of life’s circumstances are too much to bear and things explode like a powder keg in a Bar B Q pit. The talk of blacks and our supposedly rioting as some sort of black trait or some kind of example of the lawless nature of blacks then we must look at the act of rioting as it applies to whites.

As riots go white riots have been around since they came to America. Black riots got a running start in the 60’s and have been on the radar ever since. As I did some research on riots it seems that white people in race related riots destroy the property of blacks etc. Yet, the majority of white riots destroy their own things since they usually happen around schools or major sports events. Blacks started off destroying the white owned businesses but then degraded into destroying their own homes, stores and general community. This is a direct result of having the police come down far harder on blacks than whites during a given riot. Since the black community felt so helpless and forgotten that when rioting breaks out the looting begins.

While doing a bit of research on riots and those that have been white or predominantly so I have come across a lot of riots where the idea of the riot was just to terrorize blacks and destroy what little they had. The riots were always after the gossip of some black man or men after their white woman whether it is for rape or just any type of relationship. The next reason was the fact that blacks had a nerve to actually get jobs to support their families. For people to make statements that rioting shows that blacks can’t control their angry violent nature and are prone to mass violent outbursts is totally irresponsible and an outright lie. Following is stories of a few violent white riots followed by a list of others, as H. Rap Brown said, violence is as American as apple pie.

The Springfield Race Riot of 1908 was a mass civil disturbance in Springfield, Illinois, USA sparked by the transfer of two African American prisoners out of the city jail by the county sheriff. This act enraged many white citizens, who responded by burning black-owned homes and businesses and killing black citizens. By the end of the riot, there were at least seven deaths and US$200,000 in property damage. The riot led to the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization.

The Atlanta Race Riot of 1906 was a mass civil disturbance in Atlanta, Georgia, USA which began the evening of September 22nd and lasted until September 25th. At least 27 people died and over seventy were injured. Atlanta newspapers reported that black men were assaulting white women. The charges were not true, but the reports set off the Atlanta race riot of 1906. The official death count was 12 black and two white, but it has been claimed the real death toll was much higher as Atlanta authorities did not want to further damage the reputation of the city. The riot was reported in newspapers around the world but has not been taught in schools in the United States, and those who died have not been officially commemorated.

East St. Louis, in 1917, the United States had a strong economy boosted by World War I. Because many workers were being recruited for the war, firms also had jobs for African Americans, who began to migrate in great number from the South to St. Louis, among other northern and midwestern cities. Three thousand white men gathered downtown, and started to attack African Americans. They destroyed buildings and beat people. On July 1, a black teen that shot his attackers was fired on by a white mob. The boy then shot and killed two cops.

The next morning, thousands of white spectators who saw the bloodstained automobile marched to the black section of town and started rioting. After cutting the hoses of the fire department, the rioters burned entire sections of the city and shot inhabitants as they escaped the flames. Claiming that “Southern niggers deserve a genuine lynching,” they lynched several blacks. Guardsmen were called in, but several accounts reported that they joined in the rioting rather than stopping it. Others joined in, including allegedly “ten or fifteen young girls about 18 years old, who chased a black woman at the Relay Depot at about 5 o’clock. The girls were brandishing clubs and calling upon the men to kill the woman.” The renowned journalist Ida B. Wells reported in The Chicago Defender that 150 black people were killed during July in the rioting in East St. Louis.

Red Summer which included riots against blacks: 1919 – Charleston Race Riot, May 10, Charleston, South Carolina, – Washington, D.C. Race Riot, July 19, Washington, D.C., – Chicago Race Riot, July 27 – Aug. 2, Chicago, Illinois, – Knoxville Race riot, Aug. 30, Knoxville, Tennessee, Longview Race Riot, Longview, Texas, Omaha Race Riot, Sept. 28, Omaha, Nebraska, Elaine Race Riot, Oct. 1, Elaine, Arkansas. Was called the red summer for all the blood of blacks that was spilled during this massive onslaught of race motivated riots that happened to take place in 1919 over one summer.

The Tulsa Race Riot, also known as the 1921 Race Riot, The Night That Tulsa Died, the Tulsa Race War, or the Greenwood Riot, was a large-scale civil disorder confined mainly to the racially segregated Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA in 1921. During the 16 hours of rioting, over 800 people were admitted to local hospitals with injuries, an estimated 10,000 were left homeless, 35 city blocks composed of 1,256 residences were destroyed by fire, and $1.8 million (nearly $17 million after adjustment for inflation) in property damage. Officially, thirty-nine people were reported killed in the riot, of which 10 were white.

The actual number of black citizens killed as a result of the riot was estimated in the Red Cross report at around 300; making the Tulsa Race Riot the worst in US history. Other estimates range as high as 3,000, based on the number of grave diggers and other circumstances, although the archaeological and forensic work needed to confirm the number of dead has not been performed.

Rosewood was a small community of 25 to 30 mostly black families in Levy County in central Florida, USA. Today, it is best known for the racially driven attack on African Americans by whites in January 1923, known as the Rosewood massacre. The town was abandoned during the massacre. It had been a “whistle stop” on the Seaboard Air Line Railway, located on the north side of State Road 24 half a mile east of the intersection with Levy County Road 345.

Just Be Thankful You’re American

lynching-in-america_florida-1935.jpg

I recently did a post on sex slaves in America and inside I talked about a bunch of Ukrainian women who were brought here under the assumption they would be getting jobs except those jobs were as prostitutes. Now they are free, tens of thousands of dollars richer and American citizens. They actually spoke to congress about the sex slave industry and cried their collective eyes out at the humiliation, torment and degradation they suffered at the hands of their captors. Now New Jersey lawmakers would like to offer an apology for the enslavement of the Africans.

An apology is a good start to trying to acknowledge a wrong that was never corrected. Republican Assemblymen such as Richard Merkt and Michael Patrick Carroll had problems with this. They feel that it would be meaningless. Assemblyman Richard Merkt wanted to know, “Who living today is guilty of slave holding and thus capable of apologizing for the offense?” Also, “And who living today is a former slave and thus capable of accepting the apology? So how is a real apology even remotely possible, much less meaningful, given the long absence of both oppressor and victim?”

“But, on a current note, if slavery was the price that a modern American’s ancestors had to pay in order to make one an American, one should get down on one’s knees every single day and thank the Lord that such price was paid,” Carroll said. Carroll said while his ancestors came from Ireland around the 1850s, fleeing a potato famine he said was worsened by British indifference; he bore the British no ill will. Now back to our Ukrainian ladies. From what Assemblyman Carroll is saying these ladies should be on their collective knees daily and this time to thank the modern day slave catchers for helping to make them citizens of America. Not only the ladies but their children, children’s children should all be on their knees giving thanks that the sex slave catchers got their mothers and grandmothers and making them free Americans.

Now that sounds pretty sickening if you ask me, that we have people that are so callous as to think that someone should be thankful that their family has been enslaved and subjugated. They should be thankful for the passing on of not only an American citizenship but a legacy of subjugation, discrimination and bias. Mr. Carroll would NEVER make that statement to these ladies let alone any white person who suffered from some devastating event that caused them to be in America. Would he say that to the Jews who suffered through the holocaust? Hey they had to suffer immensely, losing family members and their freedom yet they should be thanking the Nazi’s each and every day down on their knees no doubt for the chance to be an American citizen.

If a drunk driver swerves his car into a car carrying Mr. Carroll’s children and they all get killed including the drunk driver would he feel it to be meaningless for the drunk driver’s family to offer his family some sort of apology for the disaster? I mean the drunk driver is dead so can’t apologize; his kids are dead so they can’t accept it so to him it is a waste of time. Yet on a daily basis in some court here in America you have murderer after murderer who is apologizing for the murder of somebody or another. Then there are the people who are accepting of the apology, not the person however because they are no longer here. But, the apology still helps those left behind to begin healing from whatever mental anguish they have been and are suffering.

The extreme condescension of comparing slavery of ones ancestors to a famine is indescribable. People constantly want to make comparisons with regards to slavery. It is just another way of diminishing the act or trying to lessen its blow. It is like comparing starvation which lasts months until one dies to going without lunch for one day. How about I compare his family’s potato famine with the cold that I had last year which was pretty bad and I felt terrible for a week. I am sure he and certainly his ancestors would say that it was no comparison.

Now slavery was a LONG time ago I will grant you. But looking at the big picture what has been done to take the sting of it away from the minds of those that are here now. What has anyone done to make amends for this travesty of justice? What exactly did we get for our families suffering through slavery? We received the bonuses of lynching, Jim Crow, discrimination, racism, white privilege, deep resentment, out right hatred and ambivalence. Yet I am supposed to be thankful to have this legacy. Maybe we as blacks are thankful to be in the United States but the problem is that not only our ancestors had to pay a price; we are still paying a price with racism, injustice, discrimination and hypocrisy at every turn. So why don’t we start with a simple apology then move on to some real corrections and end white privilege, racism and try to make life fair to ALL races.

A Thin Line Between Hero And Criminal

white.jpgjoehorn21.jpg

I find it interesting that you don’t see all the same people out supporting the White family in Suffolk county New York that were out in force supporting Mr. Horn down in Houston Texas. Hey didn’t they both shoot suspected criminals? Horn shot two people he suspected of robbery and White shot a guy that came with a group looking to commit assault and battery. Now the situation isn’t quite the same as in the White case the boys who came to the house were there specifically for the home owners and were using racial epithets as well as threats. So it is a wonder why people aren’t out in force to protest his arrest for his heroic deeds like they did that of Mr. Horn.

The prosecutor complained in the White case that he nor his family ever called the police they just took it upon themselves to go and confront the victim/perpetrator which was what made this a crime. Now in the Horn case he ran out amidst the complaints from the police operator not to and confronted two men after saying I am going to kill them. And yet this was understandable and no charges have been filed. Now I personally feel that people should call the police and do their best to avoid a confrontation unless the perpetrator (hopefully that is not you) initiates it. Then I believe that you have no choice but to defend yourself and your family.

I think Mr. Horn should be up on some sort of charges due to his behavior yet obviously that is not the case. Now what makes these two cases so different? It couldn’t be that one person chose to confront rather than wait for the police since that is the case with both men. It couldn’t be that one felt threatened since that is the basis for both men’s proclamation of innocence. Could it be that one man shot and said it was an accidental discharge? No both men have proclaimed that they didn’t shoot with intent to kill. There is one other issue at work. One man being white shot black assailants and one man being black shot a white assailant. Now why should this make a difference? It really shouldn’t, right.

Yet the black man is up on charges being called a murderer while the white one walks the streets a hero. Plenty of supporters rallied around the white man claiming what he had done by shooting those two men in the back were akin to heroism. Then the Black man shoots a white teen in the face and is chastised with people saying what he should have done instead. I am just wondering how many others out here see the hypocrisy in these cases. I don’t care whether you feel that a person has the right to shoot in self defense or not. I care that people aren’t protecting Mr. White like they were protecting Mr. Horn’s actions.

As I’m writing this I see that Mr. White was convicted and of course the family of the slain teen saying that it had absolutely nothing to do with race even though similar cases go the same way. Not to mention that I did a post showing that blacks get punished for the deaths of whites far more than the opposite. Also, the teens were using racial slurs as well as threatening death by lynching and the parents say that is not racial, then what IS racial to them. The hypocrisy goes so deep with this one so much that the jury that convicted this man had the nerve to cry as they read the verdict citing that they felt terrible and that this was a case that should never have been in their hands etc. Then why exactly did they convict the man if they felt he should not be on trial?

So the issue here is that if you are white and feel threatened or even if it is for a neighbor or how about a person across the street or town you will be able to defend yourself. And if those that you feel threatened by whether they were actually accosting you or not are black then feel free to do whatever is necessary to take the law into your own hands and shoot them, even in the back and you will be hailed as a hero. Now if you are black and are threatened even if you have it on tape and the person is in your front yard yelling racial epithets invoking an old fashioned lynching and wrestling with you and your gun, just call the police and hope that they get there before the actual lynching. If not I guess you should allow yourself to be lynched since you will lose your life anyway to prison if you do anything to try and stop it.

If that last paragraph sounded quite cynical was because it was meant to be a very facetious look at how these discrepancies are allowed to fester without the slightest hint of affecting anyone’s sensibilities. People are saying that Mr. Smith should have called the police and I agree he should. Yet what of the kid that was shot, shouldn’t he have called the cops as well if he felt that this black kid had done something that would compel him to go to his house threatening to lynch and kill his family. No one has ever brought that up before. It is plain to see that my statements in the previous paragraph are closer to being true. It was fine for the white teen and his friends and Mr. Horn to take matters into their hands not bother to call or listen to the police yet it was clearly a mistake for Mr. White to take matters into his hand and attempt to protect him and his family. So I guess this should be a lesson to all blacks that they better beware trying to defend themselves.

Sprinting To Hell, In Gasoline Underwear

minutemen-rally-2-709064.jpg

Actually I was typing out my post on the fact that there is a serious lack of diversity on channels such as the Discovery channel, TLC etc. when I ran across a Blog on my tag surfer called Sprinting to hell. The title of the post that caught my attention was called Reverse Racism and Me. Now you know that this title attracted me like candy to a kid, and I had to read it. My mistake! Anyhow, I made an even bigger mistake of answering to some of the comments made in the post that just made my head spin.

This fellow Josh who is the author of the post says in a comment that he doesn’t promote racism he just doesn’t want to take responsibility for black peoples problems. Yet in the post there are all kinds of statements like this: “My next topic: racism and why I hate your race. Ok, maybe I don’t hate your race, but I’m about sick and tired of hearing about how white people are keeping black people down. We aren’t. Black people in America: you have a culture based on ignorance and violence, so suck it and go to fucking school. And maybe if you have some extra time, learn to speak English. Nope, he doesn’t promote racism he is just pretends to in his Blog.

Now I could care less if Josh or any other person hates or doesn’t hate blacks. I am just tired of the whole “blacks need to take responsibility and do this or that” comments, or the “whites aren’t keeping blacks down” crap. Since we hear these same comments over and over from various white people, we can make a small leap and say yes, whites are keeping blacks down. See racists who may be in positions of power keep blacks down by subscribing to the same descriptions of blacks by Josh, that they are ignorant, violent, lack structured education and don’t speak English. We can safely garner that these Josh minded people probably wouldn’t be hiring a bunch of ignorant, violent, structured education lacking, unable to speak English people, which according to the Josh minded is synonymous with black culture thus black people.

He goes on to talk about blacks telling other blacks to vote for Obama simply because he is black. All I could do was laugh at this one since he says things such as “Can you even imagine if a white republican had said the same exact thing about Fred Thompson? Or fucking Bush for that matter. Forget you political affiliation for one minute and just imagine if Rush Limbaugh has told his listeners to vote for Fred Thompson because they should feel obligated to support their white community over any political views he might have? See what is so funny? Anyway, we all know Rush Limbaugh has said this type of thing, so has Bill O’Reilly and others. Also, since every person running for president has been a white male there really hasn’t been a need for whites to tell each other that. But, I don’t get a sense that Josh cares that the Mormons are telling Mormons to vote Romney who just so happens to be a Mormon. Where is the outrage, oh, and they’re mostly white!

Then he had to go into a stint on Jena 6 and the Duke Lacrosse case, YAWN! Yet with the Duke case he says: “Yeah, you jumped on her side cause she was a poor black victim, but it turns out she was just a trashy whore trying to extort money from the rich white boys from the next college over by playing the race card. I never heard a single word from either one of them after it came forth that she was lying. Tools. I could care less if he thinks they are tools, as they probably are. But, he acts as if this is the epitome of someone lying on people of another race. Did he forget Susan Smith who killed her kids and blamed it on a black man, Charles Stuart shot his pregnant wife in the head and blamed a black man, Jesse Anderson killed his wife stabbed himself and blamed two black men, Robert Harris hired a hit man to kill his fiancé for insurance and blamed it on a black man. There are so many more going all the way back to slavery yet wow we should be all concerned over the lying stripper, how many black men were lynched behind some lying skank, too many to count.

This is the money shot: “Here’s the deal. I’m not sorry your ancestors were enslaved. I’m not sorry your ancestors had to endure the civil rights era. I’m not sorry that shit in America is still tense. I couldn’t give a fuck less about any of the hardships your race has ever endured. Why should I be sorry that my ancestors were far superior to yours? In fact why shouldn’t I be proud of that? The Africans were chucking spears at each other when my people had guns and ships that could sail the Atlantic. My ancestors conquered the globe while yours degenerated into a continent devoured by civil war, and an American culture dominated by ignorance, violence, and the same tribalistic mindset that got you shackled and shipped over here in the first place. What if anything can you even say to this comedy driven rant?

He then goes on to say how he has been the victim of black on white hate crime. WHAAAA! Can you imagine with the crap this guy talks I am not at all surprised that someone put the beat down on him. I know that people shouldn’t commit assault and battery but like Chris Rock said, I can understand. He then ends his post with a bunch of ranting about popping a mouthy bitch in her mouth etc. But, what I find so poetic and funny is that he has a new post in which he talks about: “Tomorrow and Thursday I have court in the morning, and again next week. I have a slew of charges still pending. I may very well be getting locked up tomorrow. If I disappear for a while, that is why. I am not dead yet, I might just be spending a little time in the Wake county Hilton. Yep, blacks are the criminals, and yet none of my family or friends is being treated to the proverbial hot seat in a court room. I guess I can say that I know someone involved in the court system since my sister is an attorney who prosecutes criminals like Josh. Since he has been in the joint (slang for prison, right Josh) he undoubtedly knows he will be surrounded by a bunch of those ignorant, violent, structured education lacking, unable to speak English people and they probably won’t take to kindly to his assessment of them.

Larry Craig Lynched Twice Ben Stein Says

larrycraigstall.jpg

Ben Stein is in the news today making comments in support for Senator Craig. He states “Senator Craig has been the victim of a police lynching. A party that believes in individual rights should be rallying to his defense, not making him walk the plank.” Now I am a fully on board when someone is “really” being abused by the police, but come on, Lynching! That is so condescending to the thousands of Black men who were lynched in the name of racial hatred. I am appalled that Mr. Stein feels it is appropriate to use a term that was born out of horrible circumstances to describe something so freaking trivial. Next Ben will swear that the poor Senators who he feels are being unfairly judged by their obvious unsuitable behavior are now victims of some undercover gay senator holocaust or maybe genocide. Please Ben your killing me.

Then to say “a party that believes in individual rights… What fantasy land are Ben and Senator Craig living in that he was a victim of anything other than his closeted man lust. The Republican Party doesn’t care for anyone’s individual rights; well maybe that of big business, but if they did why then, do we have so many Black men such as Sean Bell being gun down by the police in a hail of fifty bullets. Now that is what I call a police lynching and where was the Republican Party to protect these victims who are the constituents under their supposed protection. What reason does the Republican Party as well as the Democrats get behind for these blatant cases of “real” lynching, well it was due to “contagious shooting,” yep that crap actually flies with them. Maybe this is why the government took so long to get around to doing something about the people who were suffering after hurricane Katrina. They were too busy trolling around in men’s restrooms and parks or underage chat rooms.

I don’t understand Ben Stein’s grievance he says “Here’s the deal: Senator Craig went into a men’s room at the Twin Cities airport. He entered a lavatory stall. He tapped his foot. He may or may not have reached his hand down under the lavatory partition to pick up a piece of paper or to make a signal. That’s it. That’s the whole thing. There was no sex act of any kind.” Well I don’t think that cops are supposed to engage in a sex act with the perpetrator in order to ascertain that he should be arrested for “soliciting” sex from the officer. I think it is the soliciting part that gives that fact away; which from what “my” dictionary says is to ask somebody for something or to offer sex for money. Now he did a combination of the two.

Ben also states that “If a police officer can wreck a man’s career over this trifle, then we might as well not have a Constitution or a Bill of Rights.” Uh, what? For one thing this statement would assume that the police officer knew that the man in the other stall was Senator Craig and he then put his Machiavellian plan into the works grabbing the Senator and so began to put the screws in. Then you also have to wonder if this cop was so gung ho on screwing up the man’s career why then didn’t he run this information right to the press after the arrest? Wouldn’t that do more to ruin his career than to sit back in the shadows doing his job (and I am no fan of cops) and let the newspaper come upon the information two months later.

Wow, that cop was really hell bent on getting Craig alright. Come on Ben, I mean when Sean Bell was killed the cop claims they made eye contact and that was enough for him to know that Sean knew that he was a cop. Now if that was this officers story that he looked at him and somehow knew that the Senator wanted sex, I would be right there with you guys, but he went through a whole ritual of how you approach someone for a gay tryst. I mean would you come to a guy’s rescue that saw a lady on the street, walks up to her and says hey pssst, then pulls out a twenty dollar bill and waives it at her. She pulls out a badge and waives it at him. Would Mr. Stein claim that this man should be left alone since there wasn’t any sexual contact? Now Ben is this a modern day lynching of that poor man who is probably going to lose his wife, family, job, a gob of money and maybe his freedom? I think not, she didn’t force him to solicit, so I guess he, you and definitely Senator Craig should do what you always want everyone else to do and take responsibility for your own actions.

The New Slave Trade Alive In New Orlean’s

chaingang.jpg

Rosetta James cries for her son 29 year old Glenn Thomas, who died in the Orleans Parish Prison. Unfortunately, none of the Prison authorities, the Sheriff’s office nor City or State Officials notified her of this. She had to be told by a family friend who received a call from their loved one who was in the jail with Glenn. Rosetta angrily went to the prison on July 4th for information, she was told that her son who had absolutely no known medical problems, died the night before of “natural causes”, and that if she wanted she could call back in a month to get an official report.

Glenn Thomas died while awaiting his day in court; he was picked up on a warrant for failure to appear in court for simple drug possession. The unfortunate part happens to be, that on his stated court date the city of New Orleans was uninhabitable and people were being kept from entering in this part of the city. So, if no one can enter, then how was the court date still in effect? He sat in jail for one year awaiting his trial date but never made it. Criminal Sheriff Marlin Gusman’s public information officer, Renee Lapeyrolerie, said they couldn’t provide details about Thomas’s death but said, “Well, in his criminal history he had a lot of drug arrests. Those things can be linked to health problems.”

This is the third such “natural cause” death there this year, and they just don’t know how any of these deaths occurred. Sheriff Gusman blames anything that goes on in the jail as “the prisoners own fault or not enough money”. We know that he didn’t commit suicide, and money isn’t the problem as the jail receives a per diem amount and 3.2 million dollars per year intended for medical expenses towards the inmates’ wellbeing. In his 2007 budget request to the City Council, Gusman asked for an additional $5 million for medical services, a request that was granted. People are speculating that the Sheriff would like to get the numbers inhabiting his prison back to the pre-Katrina amount, stating that they are pretty sure they know exactly “who” will be the inhabitants.

Sheriff Gusman has made sure that the city’s trail to revitalization will be paved by his inmates–literally. According to the Nation, “since Katrina, Gusman has used his Community Service Program and Neighborhood Response Team to deliver cheap labor for reconstruction projects. His office’s website features photos of inmates in orange jumpers and sweatshirts emblazoned with Sheriff Gusman Community Service Program next to road signs announcing, Project Clean-Up, Inmates Working.” According to the Nation, in its first session back after Katrina the legislature amended a law regulating parish jail labor in order to grant immunity to prison authorities “for injuries or damages caused or suffered by prisoners participating in any work program during incarceration at parish jail facilities.” When asked, a legislative staffer about the origins of the post-Katrina amendment, she said, “I believe it was because there was a labor shortage.”

This is pretty much the way things were about a century ago. The Antebellum city records refer to what is now the Orleans Parish Prison as the “Workhouse”. Also along with those arrested for crime, the jail was a storehouse for slaves whose masters chose to lease them to the Workhouse. The same archives also disclose that Blacks were sent to the Workhouse for “claiming to be free”: In the space where the master’s name was usually recorded, these inmates were referred to as “so-called free.” After the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, Blacks arrested in New Orleans for black-code crimes such as vagrancy and unemployment were taken to the parish Workhouse. During Reconstruction, the incarcerated former slaves provided a stable pool of forced labor for railroad companies, agriculture and industry.

Lieutenant Eric Donnelly, director of the sheriff’s work-release program told a local business paper that the program played such a vital role in re-starting the city’s economic engine. “As soon as the hurricane ended and we got a new phone, it was ringing off the hook from employers saying they needed their inmates,” Donnelly said. “So as soon as we were getting them back in we had [employers] coming to pick them up themselves. That’s how much they rely on this program.” These employers might as well be calling looking for their “Slaves”. But, obviously to New Orlean’s as well as the rest of the nation, it doesn’t matter as long as those bad, bad black people are off the streets, whether that be dead from god only knows what in an overcrowded prison yet to even face charges, or worked like a slave just as their ancestors had, by a chain gang happy Sheriff.

Death Penalty Becomes The New Lynching

12-4-death-penalty.jpg

America is a product of its past, says David Jacobs a professor of Sociology at the Ohio State University. What he is speaking of is the link between lynching and the death penalty. It seems that when he and his group looked at the actual number of lynchings per state they found that it directly correlates to the amount of African American males actually being put to death.

As he starts explaining his findings from his study, “Death sentences linked to history of lynching in states”, Jacobs states that the results might be shocking, except that I have known this all along so was I surprised, not one bit. “Our results suggest that the death penalty has become a sort of legal replacement for the lynchings in the past,” Jacobs said. “This hasn’t been done overtly, and probably no one has consciously made such a decision. But the results show a clear connection.” The only problem I have is I think that people in the legal system have to know that this system we count on to bring justice to criminals the country over is inherently racist

So the study shows that the states with the highest lynchings in the past have the highest number of blacks being put to death now, so I can surmise that the modern day death penalty when dealing with blacks is just another means of lynching our brothers. Ten southern states were of course with the highest rates. They showed that the death sentence numbers increased after an increase in the black population and showed that as soon as the population threshold was down to 20 to 22 percent the sentences tapered off. Sounds like black population control.

Another of his studies “Blacks who kill whites are most likely to be executed” showed that those blacks getting death sentences also increased if the victim was white but decreased if the victim was a minority. Also, when whites killed minorities they were less likely to get death. So it would seem that the judicial system places a higher value on the lives of whites versus their minority counterparts. But, yet again this does not surprise me as the judicial system has been screwed up since blacks were first introduced to it. Since nothing has changed that would ensure blacks a fair racist free trial I don’t see any end to this fiasco.

I have had a conversation about the judicial system before and heard a proposal that made absolute sense to me. The proposal was that we take the people out of the trial; you don’t get to see defendants or victims. How that works is the trial is actually done without the jury and everything is on transcript. Once the transcript is ready a jury reads it without any mention of race sexual orientation, religion, etc. unless it is an extremely important part of the trial such as hate crimes etc. So the jury can’t make any preconceived notions about anyone and they can just render a judgment.

I thought that it made sense; you can’t say that race etc. was a factor if no one knows any of those incidentals. Then the true verdicts can be rendered free of bias. I know first hand that preconceived notions can harm verdicts. I was on a jury once and everyone found this person who happened to be black not guilty except one man who agreed that the crime probably had not been committed but he felt that this second year college student who had never been in any trouble before probably had committed crimes that no one new about and this was our chance to make him pay. What! I told him that it didn’t matter what he might or might not have done, we were there to decide a verdict on a particular crime which he did not commit so the case is closed, but he could not live with that, and yes it was a hung jury due to that fool. Yet, you hear time and time again that racism is dead. Nevertheless here it is again biting blacks on trial whether they committed crimes or not right in the ass.

Are Police Getting Away With Modern Day Lynchings?

police.jpg

Danny Brumfield, 45, was shot in front of the New Orleans convention center after walking in front of a police car, carrying a pair of shears. The police say it was a case of self defense, the District attorney Eddie Jordan agreed, then closed any investigations and charges will not be filed. Now the autopsy report is in and the evidence now shows that Brumfield was shot in the back by a single shotgun blast. Unfortunately Jordan now claims that even with the new autopsy report “I don’t believe that autopsy alone is sufficient to create a situation where we would be able to carry our burden of proof.” As far as being shot in the back Jordan says that “how Mr. Brumfield was shot in the back.” Jordan is suggesting that conceivably he was turning or falling off the patrol car at the time.

The police officers maintain that Brumfield was making stabbing motions, with the shears, when he ended up on the hood of the car, no one was sure whether he was hit by the car or jumped on the hood. His daughter who was sleeping outside the convention center witnessing some of the action agreed with the police that he was on the hood hanging on and then she heard the shot. His family explains that he had the shears because he was cutting cardboard for his grandchildren to sleep on so they wouldn’t have to sleep on cold concrete. The officer Ronald Mitchell who fired the fatal shot was terminated police spokeswoman Sabrina Richardson said; claiming it was due to “a domestic violence issue with his wife”.

This is yet another case from New Orleans of police being out of control. How does a person get shot square in the back and have it deemed justifiable by authorities. I understand that he may “have” been threatening the police officers, but he had shears and his back was obviously at the officers, so it seems that it would be prudent to handle the situation differently. Such as, firing a non-fatal shot or maybe just not using the shotgun. The police in New Orleans were involved in many other shootings involving blacks that are being either prosecuted or investigated at this time. Such as Ronald Madison an unarmed, mentally retarded man with no criminal record, who was killed by a shotgun blast to his back, the police officer told the investigators that Madison had turned and reached into his waistband right before the officer opened fire. The officer who was charged with first degree murder has resigned from the force. Six other policemen also were charged for the shootout on Danziger Bridge. Three others were indicted in the killing of a second person on the bridge. All of the officers have pleaded innocent, and are awaiting trial.

This to me is a wakeup call that people need to see that it is obviously OK to shoot, maim, kill, beat down, and any other violent thing that cops would like to do to blacks. But, yet people are saying that “racism is pretty much dead” or “look how far blacks have come”. These statements are just ridiculous. What I say is look at the facts, so many blacks are being shot numerous times apparently justifiably due to the “contagious shooting theory”. It is interesting that cops never seem to get “contagious shooting” when shooting at white people. Also, the frequent beatings blacks get, but judges and people say that the person shouldn’t be struggling and they wouldn’t be beaten. Well I don’t know about you, but if someone is beating me, I’m going to struggle. Unfortunately, I guess white people never struggle when being arrested, so there is no need to beat them, just blacks.

All this is showing me that blacks are under attack and it seems that it’s just as justifiable as it was when lynching a black was taking place (more often). Also things in America are more the same than ever. What else we should see, is that we blacks need to be kept in line by any means necessary.
