Should Religious Beliefs Trump Legal Rights?

People such as Rose Marie Belforti pictured above, the town clerk in Ledyard NY decided that she just can’t give out marriage licenses to gay couples due to her religion so she did just that, told a lesbian couple they will need to come back and get that license when one of her subordinates could do it for them.

Now, unfortunately I don’t believe that she was hired to a job in government due to her religion or based on her religion.  Her religion is her religion and that is something for her to keep to herself at her home.  She actually has no right to bring her philosophical beliefs to the workplace and infringe on others rights.  Belforti says state law “protects my right to hold both my job and my beliefs.”

Where state law DOES protect her right to hold her beliefs, it DOESN’T protect her from failing to do her job.  That right there should have this fool kicking up dust all the way to the unemployment office where someone there should deny her service because their god says only pretty people need be served.  And you know what I’m talkin’ bout’, just look at her.  And my god says it is my right to call it like I see it!

The bible says in Genesis 3:16 – “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children.  So me being a nurse, would she be in support of me denying her or her daughter’s call for pain medication during the delivery of a child.  Should I say that in good Christian faith, I can’t get her any pain medication nor call an anesthesiologist due to my Christian beliefs which says that women should be in extreme pain during childbirth?  And that her or her daughter will have to wait eight hours or more until my shift ends before they can have their pain alleviated due to my beliefs, is that acceptable to her.

People are so hypocritical.  It is becoming much more prevalent these days.  I want to deny people rights they have under the law based on my fucked up views of religion etc.  All the while expecting others to respect their rights not only to do everything they want to do that complies with the law.  She would never understand a teacher at her daughter’s school saying that he can’t teach her because his religious views say that women shouldn’t be allowed to be educated.  And that her daughter will need to wait until she can get into another teacher’s class who will tolerate females being educated.  She would expect this male teacher be fired, or disciplined in some way.

This woman should be fired.  It is not her place to bring her religion to work.  It is not her right to force her beliefs on anyone else.  It IS her job to hand out marriage licenses not to administer religious teaching.  And it is high time that we put a stop to these people who feel that their rights trump everyone else’s rights.  There is nothing written in the constitution placing anyone person’s rights above another.  Well except when we are dealing with black folks, but that’s another story isn’t it.

Where does it stop?  Do we have to be subject to others views of the bible which can be pretty damaging?  When does the stoning start?  Do I get to tell my boss that even though I am required to work on the Sabbath, I won’t and I should not only keep my job but be paid because they can’t infringe upon my religious rights?  And then should I be able to stone people to death for working on the Sabbath?  Because we all know that in Numbers 15:32-56 it does say that Moses was told by god to stone a man to death for gathering sticks on the Sabbath.  Hey, it’s my right under the bible and the state can’t stand in the way of my religious rights!

We have to set precedence or there is no stopping the things that one can do under the guise of bible worship.  I can stone my son to death for being insolent as it gives me full right to do in Deuteronomy 21:18-21.  This crap is going way too far and it is infringing on the rights of other humans to live their lives as the constitution said We hold these truths to be self–evident, That all men are created equal, That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, That among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.– That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, Deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

It clearly says that the government and I would assume the workers there in, derive their powers from the consent of the governed NOT from the bible, god nor Christian churches or any other churches.  So it is about time to knock some sense into these people.  Kick her butt out of that position and place someone there that understands that the power they possess are given by the people who consist of gays, blacks, Asians, whites, Muslims, Hispanics and every other race, religion or creed.  Come on people get over your petty discrimination already!  And that means you Rose Marie Belforti!

Pimps Of The Pulpit

Creflo Dollar wants to help god help you to get rich! Wait a minute, he wants to have you help HIM to get rich, that’s better. Pulpit pimps such as Mr. Dollar have no intention of helping people with their prosperity speak. And just like prostitution the only one who seems to prosper is the pimp. The parishioners are making sure that Mr. Dollar has the best that god has to offer, now what of their living standards? Are their living standards equal to or better than those of Mr. Dollar?

Creflo Dollar was on CNN to defend what it is that he does, which he never exactly explained. He says that he runs his business oops; I mean church by the book. He gives the IRS all necessary paper work in order to track exactly how much money is coming in and how much is going out and where it goes. So he can’t understand exactly why the Senate Finance Committee would be probing him. He says they have all they need and now they are just starting to meddle in church business! And pray tell what would that business be?

Creflo and the rest of these preachers are getting paid big bucks for their sermons because as Creflo will tell you, pimpin’ the pulpit ain’t easy. These so called good Christians are just another piece of the puzzle called get rich off the backs of the believers. They are just as bad as Enron, WorldCom and the Banking and Loan folks. People trusted them and believed in what they said as they cooked the books. Now people believe that by giving my money to this pimp I will be blessed by god to receive all my fondest wishes. I think I would rather rub the genie bottle, at least it was free.

Dollar, who heads the Creflo Dollar Ministries and World Changers Church International in College Park, maybe that should be Money Changers Church International. Anyway, Dollar said during an interview that his spending and the personal spending of other successful mega church pastors should be seen in the context of all the money that they and their congregations raise for the poor and others in need, in line with Christ’s example to love and help others.

“I have given over a hundred cars away to people. I’ve purchased over four or five homes and given them to people. We don’t share that information. I feel like I’m forced to share it right now, because there’s so much assumption in that area of excess versus success. I don’t think that excess is necessarily wrong. Just because something is excessive doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It’s just based on how you obtain that excess. If you didn’t obtain it in a wrong way, and you worked hard, and you did things right and legal and up-front and open, excess is not necessarily wrong. “I have given over a hundred cars away to people. Creflo also has preached that it is a curse to be poor. God wants everyone to be wealthy. Yet wasn’t Jesus poor? And wasn’t that by choice or was he cursed by his own father? Also, does Mr. Dollar really think that ALL people can be rich? That is impossible or maybe just implausible. There can only be so many rich people due to the fact that if everyone were rich then rich would have no meaning, we would all just be, since there would be nothing to compare it to. In order to have rich there must be poor.

You have to look at these pimps and wonder how much is too much. When is enough, enough? Do you really need to lord over your parishioners like a sultan or king. In the bible it speaks of preachers living humbly. What ever happened to that, or has that been taken out of the bible? Corinthians 9:18, What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not misuse my rights as a preacher of the gospel.

Joel Osteen A Fat Cat In Skinny Goat’s Clothing

It is Sunday morning and we are up and watching a little television when we just happen to come across this fellow in a huge mega church preaching about how God wants to bless you with prosperity etc. Now I am interested in what this humble sounding fellow had to say as I am constantly curious how people could actually listen to these prosperity preachers on a constant basis. It turns out that his name is Joel Osteen and I remember seeing him on Larry King not to long ago. He has a new book so I guess he was on the book whore, I mean tour circuit to push his goods.

Now I don’t subscribe to these prosperity pushers such as Creflo Dollar, T.D. Jakes, John Hagee, Joyce Meyer, Pat Robertson, Juanita Bynum, The Tower of Power Schuller, Benny Hinn, Paula & Randy White, Oral Roberts, Mike Murdoch, Robert Tilton and Peter Popoff. Osteen and these preachers are pulling down money that would make the riches Pharaoh or Sultan blush. Yet God has specific scripture denouncing the rich lifestyle such as Mathew 19:24 “Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Let Osteen and the other modern day swindlers tell it and you too can get to heaven by helping to line their pockets and bank accounts to overflowing.

Osteen was preaching today about not having a skinny goat mentality which he equated with a poor person mentality. You need to think big and know that God wants to make you prosperous with blessings. All you have to do is pray, OH and don’t forget to say the Amen. The Amen part is like sealing the prayer and blah, blah, blah. Now I am not a Christian by any means and know that God isn’t waiting in the wings to give me anything for giving these con artists one thin dime. In fact I think that just the opposite will happen, if I pay my hard earned money to this and the other thieves I will be even more destitute. It is like a fool calling the psychic hotline (which I worked for a short time) and what do they always ask? Why don’t I ever have any money, and will I get some money soon? I always wanted to say you have no money and won’t get any because you keep paying two dollars a minute for these phone calls. Why don’t you hang up and save your money then I could pop them on the head like a V-8 commercial.

Joel Osteen isn’t interested in my spiritual or any other part of my well being. He constantly talked about the fact that he also has a skinny goat mentality yet he grew up in the cradle of money as his father was also a preaching money maker. So where exactly did he get this skinny goat mentality. All he talked about for the entire time was building this mega church and how he felt that they could only afford to keep the old broken tiles and jacked up bathroom stalls etc. And when his cousin whom works for him said they should get all new things which prompted Osteen to wonder where his cousin got this fat cat mentality from. Well probably from the fact that through Osteen’s nepotism and cronyism he too is benefiting off the backs of Osteen’s poor stupid parishioners.

This mega church they built cost somewhere around seventy million dollars, damn that’s a lot of money. Yet he is a humble country preacher, “don’t know nothing about money matters,” is what he said when he had to go to Bank of America for a twenty five million dollar loan. Banks don’t just give that kind of money to people without a plan, no knowledge about how things in the real word work. He knows full well how money and the like work, like I said earlier, this guy was born to a money grabbing preacher. I don’t want to rag on anyone’s religion but I don’t believe that this preacher’s actually preaching about religion well maybe the religion of money. This guy and the others only seem to have one goal in mind and that is to separate you and me from our income and that is my problem.

I can barely look at these prosperity doctrine preacher’s let alone listen to the garbage they spew. I heard one preacher Paula White look into the camera and ask people to send her their first paycheck of the month. What! Is she crazy, most people are living paycheck to paycheck so who can afford to just send off a whole check to that cretin. She claims, just like Osteen and all the rest that you will get that back two fold or better. Gee if I send my hard earned money away how will I get this money back, is she going to pay my bills? This is another one of those “you got to have blind faith” things. I guess I am too inquisitive to just follow anything on blind faith. But, until others show more of a questioning nature instead of blindly following the pack like a good little sheeple.

Illegal Immigrants Causing Outrage

I just have to weigh in on illegal immigration, because it is and already has been a topic that brings about such outrage. I want to look at how these illegal immigrants are coming here bringing crime, racism, disharmony with the natural rhythm of people and things in this land. Some consider them a cancer upon the very land we stand and some see them as just a new face to help cultivate more diversity.

By the boatload is how they seem to arrive into the country, not just one or two, but whole families looking for a way out of a bad situation in their homeland. Once they get here they settle into their own little communities and refuse to speak the language of the land actually setting up government in their own image with officials who cater to their wants and needs also speaking their preferred language. If you go into these communities they expect you to speak their language and submit to the customs that they brought here with them.

The crime rate has skyrocketed with their arrival, rapes, kidnappings and even worse terrorist murders. They bring weapons and different types of contraband that is not tolerated in our society. The areas where they seem to be landing are dangerous to say the least. They kill and or injure the people we send there to patrol the area. Then actually complain within their little communities that we are the bad guys, the ones to be feared, constantly complaining about our efforts to secure our borders and ourselves.

Unable to care for themselves they take advantage of all of the resources used to help our own, such as food, housing, heating and education. The strain on resources is astronomical since they take but do little to contribute completely to our society while turning around and bringing even more of their family and friends further increasing this strain. Undercutting our ability to make a decent living is causing the living standards of our community to start to decline, which eventually has lead to the decline of our infrastructure.

Unfortunately they also bring in diseases that kill a large portion of our communities. In fact some of the diseases were given to our number as a means to hurt us. With the disease levels raising it is becoming more of a strain on our society to try and remedy this as a shortcoming of health professionals is a problem. Also being consumed by materialism they are taking our goods and services without repayment which is largely responsible for a down shift in values.

The strain on the land is also a problem. The illegal immigrants are sullying the environment with toxicities due to their inability to adapt quickly which causes them to live in conditions that prevent them from keeping the area clean of refuse. Sometimes it just seems that they do very little for the environment acting as if they don’t care at all, when nature is such a large part of our heritage.

We have members of our own communities who are helping these people to move into our society, trying to show them how to adapt quicker. This practice has been outlawed but due to their sympathetic eyes they don’t see a problem with giving them food, water, shelter and passage into the area. It is a great debate about what should be done to quail these human smugglers. These so called humanitarians are considered to be contributing to the downfall of our society.

These humanitarians listen to these illegal people’s sad stories of misconduct and persecution by their own government and feel sorry for them. They tell of their religious nature and how they only intend to share this country with us and those like us. They also told how they feel they should be allowed to make their way to the opposite coast, which was what they called manifest destiny as they said it gave them the right to take whatever they felt they needed. This happened to be our land, our resources and our very lives. But, no one cares about this illegal immigration because without it the people in the majority in this land wouldn’t be who they are today. The past is the past right, we can’t do anything about what happened back then, we just need to stop the new illegal immigrants from doing to us what we did to the original land owners. This sounds like a racist rant, yet these are the very arguments people are using to get others to join in on hating Hispanics.

The Negro Project Part 1

Birth control and abortion are some of the hottest debates in this country and have been for a long time. But what, if anything, do we blacks know about the supposed humble beginnings of this revolution that has pitted right and left wingers on opposite ends of the debate? Margaret Sanger has been coined as the mother of birth control, abortion and also of Planned Parenthood. To a lot of people she was a godsend, someone who gave women control over their bodies during the time of suffrage and one of Time magazine’s hundred most important people of the 20th century. To some she is a monster bringing about the death of so many innocent fetuses. So what about the black community, where do you and I stand on these issues, but more importantly on the founder of these debates?

According to whom you speak to these days you will hear a plethora of information about Margaret Sanger. But the one story that most don’t want to speak about her is the fact that she was proposing birth control etc. because she felt that certain people shouldn’t be allowed to continue breeding. Taken from the website BlackGenocide, Sanger said “Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying… demonstrates our foolhardy and extravagant sentimentalism.” She wrote in the recently republished “The Pivot of Civilization.” This book, written in 1922, was published at a time when scientific racism had been used to assert black inferiority. So who determines who is a moron? And better yet how would these morons be segregated? She was on record stating that sterilization or birth prevention was necessary for those that she felt were unfit stating “it is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth, children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them.”

She was also reported to have been a believer in the eugenics project. Eugenicists believe that civilization can be enhanced through selective breeding. From its inception eugenics was supported by prominent people, including Alexander Graham Bell, George Bernard Shaw, Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler and of course Margaret Sanger. Eugenics became an academic discipline at many colleges and universities. Funding was provided by prestigious sources such as the Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Institute of Washington, and the Harriman family (taken from Wikipedia). Having these beliefs she stated that: “inferior races were human weeds and a menace to civilization.”

Ms. Sanger died in 1966 but she did get her wish of having her creation Planned Parenthood seen as a liberal helper to the black community. People who undoubtedly find her a heroine of modern day women’s rights will charge that she was not involved with the eugenics movement. But not only did she never refute them she made remarks that would classify her as a racist in her own right. Also, her publication called The Birth Control Review founded in 1917 published pro-eugenics articles by known eugenicists such as Ernst Rudin on a regular basis. The eugenics movement was all about improving the hereditary qualities of a race or breed by controlling mating in order to eliminate “undesirable” characteristics and promote “desirable” traits. Also espousing that “all children born, beyond what would be required to keep up the population to a desired level, must necessarily perish, unless room is made for them by the deaths of grown persons. We should facilitate, instead of foolishly and vainly endeavoring to impede, the operations of nature in producing this mortality” according to An Essay on the Principle of Population, published in six editions from 1798 to 1826 by Thomas Robert Malthus, The principal of Malthus Eugenics.

Sanger gave this address called “A Plan for Peace,” before the New History Society on January 17, 1932, in New York City Margaret Sanger, as printed in the “The Birth Control Review, April 1932, 107.” Sanger suggested Congress set up a special department to study population problems and appoint a “Parliament of Population.” One of the main objectives of the “Population Congress” would be “to raise the level and increase the general intelligence of population.” This would be accomplished by applying a “stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation [in addition to tightening immigration laws] to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted, or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring.” It’s reasonable to conclude that as the leader of Planned Parenthood – even after 1929 – Sanger would not allow publication of ideas she didn’t support. Sanger’s defenders argue she only wanted to educate blacks about birth control’s “health benefits.” However, she counted the very people she wanted to “educate” among the “unfit,” whose numbers needed to be restricted.

Grant presents other arguments Sanger’s supporters use to refute her racist roots:

Blacks, Jews, Hispanics and other minorities are well represented in the “upper echelons” of Planned Parenthood Federation of America;

The former, high-profile president of the organization, Faye Wattleton, is a black woman;

“Aggressive” minority hiring practices have been standard procedure for more than two decades;

The “vast majority of the nation’s ethnic leadership solidly and actively supports the work” of the organization.

Writer Walter A. Terpenning, another eugenicist, wrote an article for The Birth Control Review, June 1932, where he described bringing a black child into a hostile world as “pathetic.” In his article “God’s Chillun,” he wrote:

The birth of a colored child, even to parents who can give it adequate support, is pathetic in view of the unchristian and undemocratic treatment likely to be accorded it at the hands of a predominantly white community, and the denial of choice in propagation to this unfortunate class is nothing less than barbarous.

I will leave off on that little tidbit of repugnant thinking. This is just the tip of the iceberg with Margaret Sanger and the eugenicists that I just have to write more about. Let me just say that I am not opposed to birth control or abortion in anyway. But the origins of the two sure make you think about some things. I will be writing another article to continue the mad thinking of this founder of Planned Parenthood and her Eugenics friends, since there are a number of books that have come out in the last ten years that seems to have revived some of the eugenic thinking.

Farewell Tammy Faye

Tammy Faye Messner died this weekend tragically from cancer. I watched her on television talking about her illness but what struck me as interesting was her strong proclamation that she was going straight to heaven. Not that she is or isn’t going to heaven, but I have a few problems with how these televangelists live their lives versus what the bible says. She was revered by a lot of people as a person who was so full of faith and love. She could be seen pretty much everyday crying, singing and begging the faithful for their hard earned cash. She was also seen as a naïve person unfortunately marrying not only one but two men who ended up in prison. Some things that people don’t know about her was that she was considered of above average intelligence to the point that she was a member of MENSA, also she had been addicted to the drug Ativan (AKA Lorazepam, used as a sedative, tranquilizer and anti-anxiety).

For her to be so smart; I mean MENSA smart is it any type of quirk that she would be so unfortunate to have two husbands jailed for some type of money fraud? I am not saying that she was in anyway involved in any of it, but it does raise some eyebrows. This all brings me to the point I am trying to make. She lived a lavish lifestyle full of out of control spending. Million dollar homes, yachts, jewelry, trips, and any other expensive thing rich people buy. Then you have to think of the religion she touts or the book she read from daily and you have to wonder if she read this passage “Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.’” -Matthew 19:23-24. Or this one “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” -1 Timothy 6:9-10

There are a lot of people who felt that she was a wolf in sheep’s clothing who prayed on the elderly and faithful to swindle them of their money. They had charities set up but a lot of the money went straight into their personal coffers. But, how much did she or their church really do for the poor, sick, hungry, and ailing? Maybe they could have lived as Jesus and used every dime to take care of people, or maybe I’m being to naïve. A passage sticks out about this from -Matthew 25:41-45 – “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.’”

Did she live her life by these rules that she so ardently used to bring the money rolling in to her bank account, I think not. But, who am I to judge, as it is put in the bible judge not less ye be judged. I am just giving everyone a little food for thought. Why is it ok for your pastor or preacher or whatever you have in your place of worship to live as kings do, while you and the rest of the congregation barely scrape by? Think on this and take it with you on Sunday, or whatever day you do your worship.
